Oh yeah; forgot that one!

But there's a disadvantage along with that: kids see you playing and think it must be easy, then get discouraged when they can't do beginner mode. I've had little ones decide to play then hop off after half a song because they're too discouraged.

Before DDR, the last game I had purchased was Mortal Kombat 3 for SNES in late 1995.

The music got me introduced to DDR...the workout kept me addicted.

I hope to soon welcome another player to this thread. His name - well, I won't tell you his name, I'll just say that he works with my husband and also plays. He's in his thirties with two kids and a wife. I can't wait to having him and his family over again now that I know the truth about his sordid habit.

You know, I was thinking that. It's kind of embarassing to post our accomplishments in the other threads. I feel so vulnerable!

But seriously - that's a good idea. I'll own up: I'm personally up to being able to stay in (that's the noncompetitive goal we use to keep the kids from being too frustrated) on 7-footers at the arcade. I still play on Light and Standard,though. But I can get B's and A's on most 5-footers at the arcade. I frequently miss AAing those by one step at the arcade, although I've gotten plenty of AAs at home on 5-footers.

But I have major trouble with reading arrows for songs where there are things off beat. E.g., Hysteria: If there weren't that throbbing drum beat on the parts that were on the upbeat, I wouldn't be able to get those steps until I either saw someone else do them or tried over and over again in a painful hit or miss (pun intended) fashion. So anything that has a really strong beat, like EoTC, Breakdown, Hysteria, Tsugaru, Afronova, Breakdown I can do easily. But I really suck on some other 4's and 5's: Radical Faith, Loving You, I was the One (on Max2). Also anything that has a little bit of no beat (like Loving You at the beginning). It's so frustrating to be able to see all those A's and AA's filling up my TV screen and try another 4 or 5 footer and FAIL OUT!!!!

When I went back down there I realized that I am able to get B's on 6 footers. So I'm working on them and trying the occasional 7 footers. My kids like to play on Heavy and Challenge, but on their off days - when they're not "in the zone" - they get mad and start crying. They hate to play below where they think they are.

But that's another advantage of being adult - knowing that there are some days when you're just off.

But one advantage to being an adult is that..... I love how my body is conditioned to take it to the extreme. Most kids bodies aren't developed in this fashion at all. So, when I go the arcade and play Maxx without the bar or do a bunch of 10's in a row. People are just too astonished at the level physical ablity that my body is able to dish out.

Kind of makes me glad that I always kept myself in great shape.

I'm 21 and I play regularly with my mom whos *thinks* 57 now. She's actually gotten pretty good, she plays on light/beginner mostly cuz shes afraid she'll fall on her @$$ and break a hip lol
