I've heard that it could go both ways, but the CF has been known to be more durable. _________________

I've heard that they're both the same but you can adjust the CF so that it is more sensitive IIRC, by loosening/tightening the screws. RO is more arcade similiar as the CF is just an entirely flat surface. _________________

Weight definitely does not matter with the RO pad.
It says it can handle a heavy amount of weight.
And I weigh only 110 lbs , and my R arrow still cracked.
If you don't mind sawing off a little easy corner of the arrow, a nice website to buy a replacement arrow is keepgaming.com .... 5 day shipping, 22$. _________________

The pads are now back in stock, my replacement shipped 2 days ago.
I was able to improve the sensitivity a bit by opening it up, lifting out the bottom plate with the metal contact (the one the wire goes into, not the one with the arrow on top), and bending it a bit so it kinda arches up a tad. Just be careful while doing this... but it really improved the pad.
I tried cleaning the contacts several times per red octane's suggestion (when they actually answered their phones/wrote back) and it didn't do anything. |

i have had my RO since august. i usually play songs from 7-9 f. on heavy for an hour or two a day. i weigh 113 lbs. by the end of august, i have had 3 panels crack. the bottom arrow and the left arrow no longer register.
i also have an ignition pad. three of the arrows decide not to work randomly. the right arrow likes to stick in place, which means that when you are choosing a song you can't stop to pick it. i have been playing on the ignition since june. _________________

HEY GUYS I CANT WAIT FOR THIS TO BE COMPLETLEY IGNORED AND RUINED MY CHRISTMAS BECAUSE NO ONE LOOKS IN THIS THREAD AT ALL!!! YEAH!!!!!!!! GO MODS!!!!!!!
First off, mods PLEASE don't lock this, it will be strongly ignored from people who know a lot about DDR pads if i post it in there, it seems like civilized excitment posts about arrival dates in there. This will attract attention!
OK, big problem with my RO about 2 months ago, i brought it to a friends house through my moms BIG infinity. It worked great when i got there. To me, i guess it wasn't a good trasistion on the way back, i got back and the left arrow just didn't work at all! I was so confused!!
When i turned my PS2 on multiple times after i notcied they didn't work, YOU KNOW HOW THE LIGHTS TURN ON WHEN YOU TURN THE PAD ON? Well, the 2 arrows THAT DONT WORK had their lights light up, and the 2 that do work, didn't llight up.
I opened it up, searched through forums, cleaned my pad carefully, try a mod that im not skilled enough to do, took the mod off! Called a electrition to come try to look at it, He said the back arrow's wires were torn, he fixed it up, SO im left with EVRY ARROW BUT THE UP ARROW WORKING, the control box signal is fine, the contact it clean!! BUT! The foily stuff looks a little beaten up.. Could this be the problem!? If so, where and how do i replace it. _________________

I think that if it is not registerring then it is the sensor and/or contact's fault. Therefore, judging by your post - most likely it is the beaten up foils at fault. _________________

They're still using foil on those platforms? Geez, I figured that after everyone and their mother's uncle's cousin's roommate's dog-sitter's lover emailed them and told them it was a bad idea that they'd switch over to sheet metal. Ugh. _________________

I can't decide if i should try this pad out first, and possibly get a CF later. It's a money issue.. I mean.. a redoctane pad will come out to 130 less for me, or more because i might buy 2 because my friend might want one too, to save some money. I know i would be happy with a CF pad, and that they don't break, while this pad seemingly has broken for numerous people, but.. it's a big difference in the money factor. _________________

I just received my Red Octane Metal pad and love it. Granted, it doesn't have many hours on it yet, but so far so good. And I'm impressed with the construction - it seems like it will hold up well.
For what it's worth, I have one RO Metal Pad and one RO Ignition v2 pad. Both are top notch and serve us well when playing head-to-head. |

Ok, Glad to hear you love it Fire Proof, i loved mine when i got it also. A couple things you must look out for over time:
-Keep it away from dust, it will buid up and cause you to have to open up the pad and clean, which is not fun.
-Keep the pad in one room, actually, on one floor, try not to manuever it to much, the wiring is weak and might slip out(even though it can be repared quick with electrical tape.
-Always ware shoes, don't be to hard on the metal sheets between each arrow, if you bend one on a jump, its not bending back, welcome to the new shape of your pad. In otherwords, be careful to hit the middle of the arrow and not slide the sides.
-BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE MASTER WIRE THAT CONNECTS THE PAD AND CONTROL BOX! A RIP FROM THAT IS A BURN OF $200 BUCKS! RO WILL NOT FIX THAT! _________________

You can play this in socks right? There won't be any screws or anything of the like that may hurt my feet, yes? _________________

Radmoose - they pads do go through a bit of a break-in period. Try playing songs with lots of jumps (drop out, maxx unlimited, end of the century) to speed this up.
Loosening the screws didn't help the sensitivity on mine... I had one arrow that was kinda dull so I bent the bottom plate under the arrow a little.
Also, try messing with the timing in the sound options menu, helpful if you're used to playing on a soft mat. |

I used the timings recommended by the cobalt flux people. Try these, and play with them a little and see if your great count changes.
