Have any of quit DDR for good, upset with yourself for wasting countless hours stomping to the beat of TaQ, only to come back and start all over again a few months later?

I stopped playing for awhile (nearly 2 months) but really am getting the urge to start playing again. In your guys' experience, what is the hardest thing about starting again? Stamina, timing, balance, pad presence? I am just curious as to what I will be facing when I go to the arcade next time.

Thanks for any help.

It depends how long you played before you quit I guess. If you've been playing for a while it's kinda like riding a bike...your stamina may decrease but other than that I don't think you can really get that out of practice.

agreed, unless you did something active to supplement ddr. its kind of like riding a bike, once you learn you never forget how to (pretaining to step difficulty, technical steps etc.).

Stamina is easier to get back then your PAing ability, inless you've been playing for a little over 2 years and you quit then it's easier to get back faster.

I quit playing for the whole summer because my pads kept breaking and when I got back to playing I had to adjust a little bu relearning the steps that I had in my head and releaning how to movbe my feet like that. It feels kinda a wierd but then you get used to it again.

Yeah, I figured stamina would really be the thing you have to gain back. I can see how you would never forget the steps, we have only done it literally hundreds of thousands of times E1.gif

DDR seems almost like an addiction.

Whenever I quit, I am much better by the time I come back. I do not understand why this is.

It would have to be your PAing ability, and endurance.

This is true for me also, as far as PA is concerned. I'm much more inconsistent (for a random (fake) example, if I don't play for a month, I could play sync 3 times in a row and get 35gr, 2gr, then 20gr, with my previous best score being about 15), but my best scores will be better than previous bests - once I got fully back into practice, my PA on most songs is *on average* better than my previous *bests*. Don't know how that works.. but meh. It's happened to me twice now.

Stamina is the only issue I've ever had after taking a break... but going to the arcade three or four times and trying to play at least one hard 9 footer per set and one 10 footer per three sets had me back in shape in no time at all - I think after that I was actually better off than I had been when I stopped after only 3 or 4 trips to the arcade.

Try this one:
NEVER QUIT AGAIN!
DDR is too precious to stop. Me...been playing for 3 years nonstop and I love it. So I guess I dont know, exept the one time I didn't play for a week and my PA really sucked.

You may lose a little bit of speed although stamina is almost definitely a must (if you can pass 10s anyway). Nothing can compare to doing 10 footers after a long break. I mean... it's hard to train for running really fast in the same spot.

I quit for about six months before starting again recently.

I lost a lot of stamina. A little speed, too. Max 300 was much harder for me than before.

I'm still just as good as before, though. The only exceptions are the 10 footers that are really fast.
