One word to start things off: rediculous.

Why even have a regional forum? What do we discuss here now? Oni scores, SDG's, AAAs, 10-footer scores...but isn't that the purpose of Gameplay? It's fine and cool to discuss scores but we also want to talk about other things. That is the whole purpose to have regional forums: to talk about DDR with people in your community. Team/region threads further break this down. New York has a very rich history of teams.

What makes this new policy even more rediculous is that many of us are being punished for not doing anything wrong. As a member of J1C and a frequent poster in that thread, why is it my fault that eighty seven other people want to make teams. Many of these new teams that sprout up have like five posts then fall quickly to page 10 and nobody hears from them again. So ultimately, what is the harm? People get to make their little threads, have their 15 seconds of fame and then regular users don't have to see these ever again. The fact is, some threads work a little differently. They have become large threads where people from that city's community come and post about upcoming events/trips/meetups/buffet trips/whatever. Look at the other regional forums. Many of these have threads pertaining to their regions/arcades. Should all of these be locked and they can all post their meetup dates in one big ass thread. Probably not, right?

The solution to make one big thread is also rediculous. I don't generally care what people in Buffalo or NYC or Albany are doing. If I happen to care, then I will read their respective threads to see what's up. In this "big team thread" idea, I could tell one of my friends that I'm going to the mall on November 31st and it will probably just get lost in the shuffle with people from all over the state. It doesn't really serve a purpose.

Last night it appeared that Sketch and Phataxel made a number of threads mocking the ten-or-so teams that have popped up in the last 2 weeks or so. I share the same sentiment; it is kinda rediculous. However, I don't feel that locking all of the current team threads that have been around and actually serve a purpose is not the answer. It just makes the NY regional board relatively worthless.

Alright...I'm open to feedback since that IS the purpose of this forum.

My 2 cents: I couldn't care less about teams, so I don't feel threatened or cheapened if some random noobs want to form one. I don't see the harm, and I don't see the need for some people to act all cliquish and condescending to those people. Just stomp your arrows, live and let live, and don't worry so much about what a couple of 13 year olds in Schenectady are doing. Unlock the threads (except for the parodies) and stop the f'ing drama over nonsense.

Just One Locked Team Thread? No, Just 10+ Locked Team Threads.

Well, as you can tell as, a whole, I am not very pleased with Mr. Phrekwenci's decisions on this issue in particular. Being a strong part of these forums now for 2 years and a few months has shown me just how DDR Freak has evolved from having drama filled, immature, and stupid posts; to having even more drama filled, immature, and stupid posts. As disappointing as it is, we will still see the usual, “OMG DONKEY AAA’ED THE FENCE POST THREAD”, and we all know that we can not completely stop this from happening. I have respected what the moderators and administrators do for these forums out of the generosity of their hearts but this has taken it a little over the edge for me.

Teams are apart of New York’s DDR history, community, and heart. By locking all of these teams’ threads you’re basically taking away New York’s personality.

That is all I really have to say and I hope that we can come to some sort of resolution to this problem.

Wow, way to be a pain in the butt about it, Technick and Uncle. Your little stunt in NY has cost you a forum lock for the time being while we play clean up and has earned you a ban.

Good job! E1.gif

Apparantly not Uncle. I guess this is the sarcasm forum. I'm not here to point fingers but it's pretty ignorant to put all the blame on Technick and Uncle for this.

Alright, this is reallii wierd. How is it that ppl are giving their opinions, and get banned for it? I mean, no warning, and out of nowhere *YOU'RE BANNED*

I agree with Uncle. This is completely rediculous. I mean hey, i might not know these guys too well. But, if i'm gonna get banned for stickin up for em. I don't reallii care. What's tha point of these forums? To stay in touch, and to inform of upcoming events. These upcoming teams are out of nowhere. Jus ban them. Some ppl have been here for a long time. n WHOOP DEE DOO, i'm a beginner member! I've actuallii been here for a while, but got my sn jacked. This is takin things WAY too far.

They're not banned for giving their opinions. They're banned for bumping tons of threads a mucking up New York, all of which have been cleaned up now so you don't see the mess they left.

On the topic of the team threads being merged into one. If that was really the case, it sounds silly to me. The regional forums are supposed to be the local DDR scene in your community. If they were all merged, it would kind of be like Team New York. That wouldn't really be considered a local shindig. Western NY's talk about tournaments would be cluttered in with Eastern NY's talk of a weekend DDR get together. (just an example I made up)

Hopefully this gets all ironed out.

I'm going to chat with Phrekwenci about ways to handle the situation. In the meantime, just hold tight.

I don't see how Uncle and Technick caused any problems in the NY thread.

Just let things happen.

i just have something top say on their bannings:

If anything, it should be considered postwhoring, and while i think it deserved points, i don't think it warrants a ban, but hey, im not IG and i dont control it.

now this is just my opinion, but that seems like a really silly reason to ban someone.

Postwhoring = typically 1 point per offense.

They did a LOT of postwhoring.

In any case, your complaints are noted and as I said before, I'm going to speak with Phrekwenci regarding the whole situation, so I think this thread has outlived its usefulness.

Just adding my thoughts because I wasn't able to. Clearing things up.

No, you don't right now. But it you were around for say 4:30pm EST, you'd see a mess that Uncle and Technick made in the forum. Just because they don't discuss what they did wrong doesn't mean they didn't do anything wrong. We have to clean things up when people make a mess you know.

This, is not a valid quote. She didn't say this, you are putting the perverbial words in her mouth. So for anyone who decided to quote on this afterward is not using anything with validity.

Being banned for not agreeing is not something we do here, period. But we will ban when actions are taken immaturely just because you don't agree.

As for the sole team thread in NY. I made another proposal (for something different) to the moderators, we will see how that goes. For now, sit tight New Yorkers - we want a painless solution for everyone.
