1. print them out as they are in the pictures
2. cut out the graphics into a square, so that you just have the image you want (no border, white surroundings). use a ruler.
3. measure the width of the square.
4. assuming you want the graphics to be 11" square, divide 11 by the width (you should get something like 1.8, 1.3, anything in that range) multiply it by 100. this is an important number which has a name that i forget.
5. get your butt down to kinkos.
6. you will probably need an employee's help at this point. ask him/her to help you enlarge an image. make sure you tell them you need large paper and (probably) color. the employee will ask you what percent size increase you need. dazzle them by whipping out your calculated value and tell them "*insert value here* percent please. he or she, being shocked by your knowlege of image enlargement, will give you there phone number and/or print out your picture after entering the percent into the machine.
7. cut out the images. laminate them if you want. |
couldn't you just get them to enlarge the image so that its a 11 by 11 square? oh and I thought the arrow panels were octagons....so it would be about like 8 in. in length and width with 2 inch diagonal edges. kinda makes it harder to create.....but i'm sure you'll pull it off at kinko's |

The octogon v. square thing depends on wether your pad has corner brackets or not. And even if it does, it doesn't have to be exactly cut, since the graphic is going to be underneath the brackets anyway. _________________

I used Photoshop elements... opened the *.psd file, changed the colors to what I wanted them to be. Then, I just saved the file as a PDF file.
I put it on disk and tood it to OFFICE MAX (cheaper than Kinkos) and told them that I wanted two copies of the "UD.PDF" (for up/down arrows) and two copies of the "LR.PDF" (for left/right arrows) printed in color on 11x17 paper. It came out perfect. I did this two seperate times (for two different pads (see sig for pics)) and there were NO issues at all. _________________

Just download the Gimp. It can open & manipulate photoshop documents and can do a lot of the same stuff photoshop can. Best of all, it's free. Go to www.gimp.org. |

I hav a controller from my original PS. Its got the analog sticks and all on it. I wanted to use it for my pads controller but the curcuit board on it is or one im not familliar with. It has the cercuit board facing down and there is something that looks like a green sheet of paper that has wires going through it the hit the buttons. I cant find a pic anywere and i dont have the capabilities to put it on myself. If anybody is familiar with this controllers curcuit board i need to no the soldering points for the directional buttons. Thankx |

for the 1/2 inch plywood could I use 3/4 thickness? It's actually a bit smaller than 3/4, maybe about 5/7. Would that screw everything up?
I have all the stuff I need except the wood I got for the squares is a bit thicker. |

Shouldn't be a problem, whose design are you using? I actually wish I had used 3/4 inch plywood instead of 1/2, so I would have had more room to play with when it came to putting in screws (through my corner brackets). |

theres a wire attached (soldered or taped or whatever) to the metal on the lucite, and a wire attached to the metal on the base. one of these wires, it doesnt matter which, goes the the common ground on your controller, along with all the other grounds. the other wire, from the other contact, goes to the individual button contact on the controller. when these two contacts touch, its like pressing the button, so you have one wire on one side and one on the other. i hope this helps!
if it doesnt, ill be making a video within the next month (i dunno if you can wait that long) about soldering a controller, because so many ppl ask about it. |
Cool, I think I get it. Is there a best way to solder the contacts? A simple picture could be really helpful. I have this one:
http://server3.uploadit.org/files/Ulala321-twopanels3.jpg
and this one:
http://server2.uploadit.org/files/Ulala321-topfinal.jpg
which show wiring of some sort, but niether are very helpful to me. Would anyone happen to have a picture that explains it a little better? Thanks! |

HOKAY!!!!!!!!!
i have returned
to answer every one of your questions in no particular order,
saucier: just put one wire to one metal contact, and the ground wire to the other. it doesnt matter which. then hook it up like any other button to the controller, ground to ground, the other to its button.
darkdragon: wut
ulala: STAY TUNED!!!
daitenshi: shouldnt screw it up, no _________________

I'm just planning on doing the ddrhomepad one. I'd like to add lights though, but I'm really new to all this stuff, and I don't really think I would be able to. |

are you describing a PS2 contoller? those have the wires embedded in a special plastic case, which CANNOT be soldered. Chances are, the board itself doesn't have solder points either.
i still haven't found a way to solder one of those....do yourself a favor and put the controller back together and rip a board out of a mad catz dance mats. its even cheaper than wasting a controller. _________________
