Problem with home built pad and EMS converter

I Have a PS2 to USB EMS Dual Shooter Converter, blue and white.
My Home built controller that i sodered to is a Mad Catz PSone

When I use a regular PSone controller with the converter it works ok, Even my soft pad works fine with the converter. But when i plug my homebuilt into the converter there is no response and the game does not detect it. When i plug my homebuilt directley to my PSone it works fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it does not work with my converter? Thanks a lot!
