Pickles is another great Canadian player, who hails from Winnipeg. I was going to mention him. Not many people know of him, but he does have 240 Heavy AAA's, and generally plays everything 1x, no bar. Hell, he even has 14 greats on road of slow. The kicker is this guy has only been playing for JUST over a year. Lot's of people doubted him until he started taking pictures for hard proof, then everything was fine.

Then there's the general list of players everyones heard about.

First off, I don't think any DDR players are internationally famous stand-alone. If you were to ask a set of 100 random people who "Bemaniac" was - I'd be surprised if more then one knew. In fact, I'd be surprised if one person knew. Internationally famous people include: George W. Bush, Kofi Annan, Michael Jackson etc etc.

So what your really asking is internationally famous - within the DDR community. That means if we asked somebody who plays DDR if they had heard of this person, they'd probably say they had. So who does that include?

Take, Yasu, Aaron - all yes. Everyone has heard of them. Internationally famous within the DDR community.

JSB, Bemaniac - yes. Most people have heard both these names.

Players who have the skill, but not enough people have heard of:

Pickles - massive massive respect for this guy, but not internationally famous, although becoming so through NNR.

KK, Yosaku - Both have the skill, but aren't very well known internationally (they may be in Japan I don't know).

Tigger - Again has the skill, but isn't well known enough.

Why do those big five (JSB, Bemaniac, Take, Yasu and Aaron) have the international fame even though the others are skilled? It's because they all have something else that everyone recognizes them for:

Aaron, Take, Yasu - All became famous when Yasu AAAed Max300 way back. Everyone saw the picture, everyone went omfg leet, everyone visited the page, everyone knows these people.

JSB - explosive personality, banned from every board, AAAed MaxX Unlimited - everyone has an opinion on him.

Bemaniac - known for having an obscenely high amount of AAAs, highest scores on NNR, AAAing with pictures Max300. Internationally known over time as a result of the stuff he did.

In short, I'd say these five people have the skill and personalities combined to let them be considered famous withing the International DDR Community. The other players I mentioned were honorable runners up.

Then there are players well known in a certain community, and somewhat known throughout the states (but not much outside). These include:

Rob (southern california, high AAA count, first to post AAAs on heavily technical songs)

The Reflexx

Maxx Paranoia.

Jamie

etc.

These following categories are famous players, but not internationally so. That about wraps it up:

5 Internationally Famous Players (within the DDR Community)
-Aaron
-Take
-Yasu
-JSB
-Bemaniac

4 Runners Up
-KK
-Yosaku
-Pickles
-Tigger

Examples of Regionwide and countrywide (to some extent) famous players:
-MaxX Paranoia
-Rob
-The Reflexx
-Jamie

Examples of People Not Making this list:
-Barry. OMFG HE CAN PASS MAX300 HE'S THE BEST AT OUR ARCADE
-Jacob. OMFG HE FREESTYLES LIKE OWNAGE EVERYONE KNOWS HIM HERE IN NOWHERE, KANSAS

[humor people, laugh a little]

I think the " within the DDR community " was pretty obvious though.... why? Well first we're on a DDR board, dah! The other reason is : If you just talk about DDR, not even famous players, random people on the street will have no idea what you're talking about E15.gif At least around here riiight.gif

Honestly, I think the only reason I've even shown up here is because of the surprisingly successful webcomic "The 10k Commotion". And my character hasn't even surfaced yet! But otherwise, I don't think that I really belong here in this list, although I admit it is flattering.

Natsuki Nishino.

Back when 3rd mix was just released, and all 9 footers were absolutely impossible, she was passing them in Japan.

Has there ever been an international tournament? That might be a way to find out. Maybe there could be some local/state/national tournaments, (don't know how people would get money, maybe beg for sponsors like in other tournaments) and then those winners could be sponsored by Konami, RedOctane, CF, etc to compete in an international tournament.
