No one is stopping you from owning an e-Amusement card. Konami is stopping you from useing it (and their games) in america.
Ever since DDR's mass-bootlegging and importing without licence (Some places did buy them for america) konami has been *really* touchy. |
Uh no, try again.
If that were the case, then why is Konami allowing the use of e-amusement for Asia, particularly countries where bootlegs were produced? _________________

I doubt it this time because Gofland always buys bootleg GFdm upgrades, and this game is using a new hardware to make the max song count 230 songs (w/ e-amuse, 270 with it). I'm fairly certain AI will get it since GFdm do incredibly well down here. I myself really wanna play Misirlou (the song from the beginning of Pulp Fiction).
P.S. for those who haven't seen it, we posted the location test songlist on bemanistyle last friday. _________________

In America, only a few bemani games where sold legitimaitly. _________________

Japan and Asia are the only places that are allowed e-amusement, last I've checked. If bootlegging in the US was such a problem, then why isn't the UK, Canada, Australia, or anywhere else allowed to have access to e-amusement?
Besides, there are TONS of ways Konami could stop Bemani games from being shipped out over here. The problem is, people CAN'T upgrade DDR or GF/DM legitimately unless they have access to a new kit (since kits obviously can't be reused).
So what's the solution to having an old machine and no way of upgrading? Buy a new machine and waste a frickton of money? Or spend ~$2000 for a bootleg, which does the same thing anyway?
With GF V/DM V though, either people have to get those kits before they're all gone, or hope that there'll be another Mix with hardware upgrade options (i.e. IIDX). _________________

Does this mean they are going to put out a song list of 230 - 270?? That would be insane.... So many great songs to choose from! BTW, how much is this going to be to get a legit machine? _________________

No, what this means is that since both DM/GF are finally getting a major hardware update since the 4th Mix the potential cap is now around 270 songs. As far as getting a legit machine, depending on the condition will run you around 15K or higher. That's not including shipping. |

at least you live in a part of georgia that has something the closest ddr to valdosta is either in tallahassee or albany, and the closest of any other bemani games are all in atlanta. [tear] the only practical option for me is to play home versions, and everyone knows how those go as compared to the arcade... |

You know, they never make GF bootlegs, only DM For some reason, I'd love to see a <another word for guitar> Mania game, just to screw with PF |
WHat are you talking about, GF bootlegs are made ALONG WITH drummania, so they can sell off the session kits. _________________

He thinks percussion freaks is a rip off.
Its not, its just DM without the session module (Which can be added). Its sold in japan and asia, but IIRC Drummania is sold strictly in japan. _________________

Uh, no, again.
Percussion Freaks is it's own game, it's NOT generally sold in Japan. PF would be the Asian/Korean version of DrumMania.
DrumMania without the sessioning kit is just a DM machine that can't be sessioned.
Besides, if PF 10th Mix is sessionable with GF 11th, then that doesn't magically turn PF 10th into a DM 10th. It would be a nice trick. _________________

I do remember hearing that you can adjust the angles slightly, but that's the best they can do. Besides, I think DrumScape is worse in that respect =P
Plus, they would have to redesign the cabinet, to adjust the height of the snare/hi-hat and a second pedal. Costs? Not worth it. _________________

Perhaps the reason why e-amusement is available in Asia is because of Konami Hong Kong, the guys who market the asian versions of PF and GF in HK and in other parts of Asia.
Because of them, more than 92% of the arcades in HK have PF 10 and GF 11 with session and e-amusement network system.
As of now, they are sponsoring a location test for Percussion Freaks V and Guitar Freaks V in HK for HK$7/drum and HK$6/guitar.
The thing is the game is set to difficulty 7. It is still there so if you wanna try it the location test ver., you better make it quick before the year ends. _________________
