That first post helped a lot. At my movie theater I know the workers know how to make it free play and put free credits in by a clothes hanger twisted in an odd shape. Does anyone know how to do it from the outside like what described? |

Or, better yet, don't. _________________

Well,
I finally got DDR Extreme to work on my Solo machine. It's as weird as people say it is.
Left arrow scrolls up on the roulette wheel while down arrow scrolls down.
A couple notes of concern that I wanted to see if others have ever had.
Whenever we try to enter Game Options, the machine resets itself. There isn't this problem on any other thing in the static test screen.
Also, in order to boot the machine, we had to set it to boot from the Onboard, (dip switch 4). When it boots, it says that the Onboard is BAD and the first two things, I think 31K, and something else are bad, but the rest are OK, and the PC card is OK. Is this bad? Has anyone else had this problem?
Oh, and the Panasonic CR-588-B CD Rom works wonderfully in the machine, incase anyone needed info on what kind of cd rom drive to use to replace their old one |

Every Extreme machine I've seen boot ONBOARD (including my own) reports those two onboard ROMs as BAD. So this is "normal."
To elaborate, I've not seen every Extreme machine I've seen boot and not every Extreme machine I've seen boot was set to boot ONBOARD. And yes, all machines in question were bootleg.
On my own machine, setting to CD-ROM skips that particular screen entirely, so I never see the BADs if they're there. If I install a different mix, those two return to OK. |

A question on "counting plays:"
The arcade where I am holding a tournament (Athens, GA: Showtime Bowl) says that the amusement company that owns the machine there counts up the plays on the game, and divvys out a certain amount to the arcade, and a certain amount to the company. I was told that, even with free play on, I would need to pay the arcade .75 for each 3-song play. (This is at the tournament).
My question is, is there any mechanism to be able to count the plays done on Free Play? I would suppose that if there was, it would be in one of the operator menus. I believe there IS a counter for each time a quarter is put in, but I'm unsure of that. More specifically, is there some sort of counter in the machine/software that counts each time that green button is pressed to start a game?
many thanks,
JM |

Get a hand clicker or just use hash marks. It's not hard to keep track of songs played. |

That's not what I mean: I mean, is there a counter inside where a company would actually be able to count it while it's on free play without being there?

there is a bookkeeping option in the operator menu that records total games played all you would have to do is check the number before you start and again when you finish.
it registers one point for each credit put on the game so if it takes 3 credits for one game for example 3 quarters then you will have to take that into consideration |

Has anyone discovered a way to translate the RGB component out available from the 'pseudo VGA port' into something useful for recording? Like composite that I can feed to a video camera.
Or, is there a wiring diagram of that connector?
Thanks.

that Psudeo-RGB port in the back (I'm assuming the RCA style ones in the back of the machine) is linkup for an external sound system.
I don't remember what the other port is right now, and I'm too hungry to dig it up. I'll check again later if someone hasn't answered. _________________

There are some scans of the american DDR machine manual that you can find over at Aaron In Japan. _________________

Most mixes don't have install discs. Its impossible as it is official, and as far as I know, no one has sucsessfully hacked it. I wish it was, as the korean songs where the best. _________________

I know that this has been covered but I still need help unlocking songs on Extreme.
Is this correct, while the cursor is on game options I held down the 1st player down arrow by standing on it while an arcade employee held down the service button. While we were both holding them down we pressed the 1st player start button.
This should of taken us to a screen where we could input codes, however, it just went to the game options menu.
Can someone PLEASE tell me what I'm doing wrong. _________________

Are you sure he was holding down S-Coin (if korean/american) or SERVICE (japan)?
Double check that. _________________

My problem had been that I had actually entered game options instead of being on it in the menu screen.
Don't know if that helps any. |

The whole point of holding down and S-Coin/Service is so that you can enter the *special* game options.
Next time, Don't enter game options yet. _________________
