I got DDR about 2 weeks ago, maybe 2 and a half. Since then I went from Light to Heavy. I'm a heavy player but I'm staying at the same skill. I am not getting any better any more... and I am playing about as much. I was flying in progress for a while, but then about a week ago when I hit heavy I got stuck. I am stuck on 7 foot songs, and I once passed a nine footer which I cannot do anymore. Am I in a mental block? Has this happened to anyone else? How do I cure it?

2 Weeks and your at heavy?

Lay off the DDR for a while. This might help.

I don't mean to sound vain, but I do think I was progressing very well. I just can't understand whats wrong.. are there any different solutions?

Whore a 9 footer to death. If you play at home, that is. Same thing happened to me, and I progressed at about the same rate as you, then I just whored the crap out of Afronova Primeval, and it got me going again.

Easy. Slow down and relax. After two weeks, you should still be playing 4 footers. Anything more than that is gravy, and it sound like you're already drowning in gravy. Just be patient and let progress happen.

I always found that if you continue to play non-stop, you'll sorta get worse. Take a break for a day or two.

Are you not having fun any more?
If you are still having fun whats so bad about not getting better fast?
If you don't stop play'n you will get better As long as you play more then 3 songs disturb.gif
It will just take more time the better you get.
If you got to where you could do Flashing 10steps and get AAAs in about 4week I don't think you would like DDR for very long.
Do you?
All I'm say'n is play to have fun not to be good!

Laterdays E1.gif

7-footers in weeks? Wow! E4.gif You rock!
I've been playing for a couple years, it's good to lapse- even for a couple weeks at a time. You'll miss songs and then ravage them when you play again.

You are missing the basics by moving up in difficulty too fast. Don't move to the next level before you actually get decent grades.

yeah i had your kind of progress and my progress did sort of slow down once i hit 7 footers, put i did slowly progress.

more importantly, like syaxx said, you will miss the basics. two things i never really learned are turning and gallops. turning is for steps like L,D,R where you use your right foot for D and left foot for L and R. very important skill that i still need to learn. gallops are important too...you can practice them on tsugaru.

I don't know the turns, and I don't whore songs. The only two songs on DDR Extreme home I can't pass on standard are Maximizer and TLoM. I don't whore songs, but I just... stopped progressing. I find ddr fun, but I just don't see whats goin on. I wasn't playing much either, 2 hours a day at most maybe. Most of the time 1 hour or less, since football tired me out pretty much.

Uhh how's this a mental block?

oh wait. I get it now.

Well try whoreing a 9-footer as the other said. If that don't work... play.. you'll get better over time.

Small Step, G!ANT Step, smaller steps...

whoring is the worst possible way to improve. all it teaches you is how to pass one song. nobody gets good by learning to pass one song at a time. you should take time to make sure you can pass all 5 and 6 footers. if you rush, you will never get the fundamentals you need.

The DDR learning curve is a little different for everyone, but I had about the same growth. Mad-awesome in a short time, but then just kinda crapped out. I found that going back and working on specific types of steps, not just in one song, really helped me level, for lack of a better word. For example, cross-overs, gallops, et cetera...

the notes I have most trouble with are definately the yellow ones (1/16 I think) and the green ones (not a clue). Anyone know any songs on DDR Extreme home that incorporate these but not too massively, so as for learning?

Yeah.. (Above post is personal opinoin).

Tidbit: I didn't start playing DDR religiously untill 1.5 to 2 years after I started playing. I didn't get to standard untill 2 months after I started playing religiously. After that, Heavy was sort of easy to get to, but, dont work yourself up over the game.
