Sry if this has been posted already, but i've recently started playing guitar freaks, and i'm not too sure how to strike the guitar. Like, after a few rounds my thumb starts to hurt (haha, i got a blister that day) =[
or do you just kinda hold on to it and flip it?
Flick? or Switch?
gah, i need to learn how to play this game before my thumb snaps off >_< |

I don't use just the thumb, I stiff up the entire palm to the thumb, and use the entire side of my thumb (for fast picking, since I don't pick up-down normally, I pick down-down, I jam on the joint of the hand-thumb...helps that I have a good rapid-fire hand =P). I kinda play GF similar to when I used to play bass guitar (i.e. slapping), if that's any kind of helpful analogy.
Just the thumbtips itself will be guaranteed to kill your thumb =P
But that's my technique. Ever since GF started overusing ridiculously fast picking (i.e. Model DD series), super fast picking I use up-down technique by pinching the pick with the forefinger and thumb and use switching rather than flicking (to keep from killing my thumb, although for me it's less accurate). I've seen a friend use switching for normal play, and he does quite well.
It's all however fits you best. _________________

I usually play with the slap method, but without actually slapping the pick thing. My arm gets tired after awhile. I take a drummers approch to it. It's all about being as loose and relaxed as possible to make it easier.s |

i pick similar to the way i play a real guitar...downward motions with the thumb for the normal/slower/easier notes and grip the pick between my thumb and pointer finger and use an up and down alternating motion for the fast parts. this works much better at the arcade than home cause of the controllers |
