Aw, just occured to me...there's no "Run To You" on this one. Someone thorw something at DJ Doc and tell him to get that song on here. "Bounce with me booooounce with me, bounce with me booooooounce!" Some pretty good Korean pop on here, though. Can't wait to import this... _________________

I *think* freezes started in PIU first though.
Anyway, I don't like saying one is better than the other. I play DDR and PIU for their own reasons. If you compare them, as forementioned, it's like comparing SF to KoF. They're different games, they don't seek to emulate each other, they're just two different games of the same genre. That, in no way means it's the same game. |
I'm not entirely sure of this but I'm pretty sure an NSR from the 1st mix of PIU had a drop in it. |

I dont understand why people seem to keep forgeting that the PS2 has USB ports. Oh well....
anyways, my 2 cents in the subject of DDR vs Pump music. While DDR music seems to be great at first they really get tiring and after a while they seem to prepackaged and candied up. Pump music on the other hand, especial Banya, is very well polished and is technicly more complicated than DDR music.
but my ears go for ITG anyways so..... |

Anyone know Korean?
Can you order the game from a Korean site if you live in America? |

I'm fairly certain that freezes were invented first with DDRMAX back in 2001, and that they weren't added to PIU until later, in either PREX 2 or Premiere 3 (or their Korean equivalents).
I've always preferred DDR's music over PIU's. I'm not quite sure I can explain why. But I don't *dislike* the PIU music, for the most part. As far as the gameplay, yeah, PA is too easy...but I fully realize that Pump isn't about PA, it's about either having fun playing the well-designed Easy/Normal and Hard steps, or playing Crazy and pushing your body just trying to pass until it breaks apart into several smoking, nasty-looking pieces. It's really a very different game from DDR, and anyone who dismissed Pump as a knockoff really should give it a second look--with an open mind.

I saw freezes in PIU Extra, which I believe preceded Premiere/Prex.
I don't remember a song having more than two arrows at the same time on earlier versions (I used to have 1st&2nd and 3rd at home, I never remembered seeing any). Maybe someone who's more familiar with the older versions knows =P _________________

I would like to get it, but knowing my luck I will be playing it at a friends house like I do with all the games I want. _________________

coughArcturuscough.
coughRhapsodyOfZephyrcough. What else? "Astonishia Story R", etc. Granted I'm sure there are some unpolished games but Korea could really be a force in video games soon but Softmax's designs mostly stand out however "Arcturus" looks like it was MADE for console if you ever see the screenshots and I just mean the design, I don't mean it's like woefully underpowered or anything.
Yeah crazymarty pretty much hit it spot on. Exceed is arcade perfect for the most part and I don't mean JUST including that mixes licensed songs. The only songs lacking are the one's with explitives or adult themes in English. That means all the Rap songs and "Lovething" which is R&B chorus/Rap. Btw I highly suggest that song. It sounds like some old fashioned Rap and R&B, before the music went down the toilet on the American mainstream.
Anyway, that and "Pierrot", which does piss me off and maybe "Run To You" since I don't remember if that was in arcade Exceed or not.
Btw to anyone who likes "Funky Tonight" by Clon it's worth noting that it doesn't sound at ALL Hip-Hoppish if you listen to the full edit of it so be warned if you expect that after hearing AM's edit of it. The same goes for "Mexi Mexi" and "Go". "Go" they DEFINITELY improved. The full version of that song is ok.
Honestly I hope PIU Exceed gets Konami to spending MORE money on future versions of DDR here for licenses and amount of songs per mix because honestly, with the exception of the home version of Extreme for Japan, this beats most of Konami's mixes songwise by at least a # of 15-20. I know Konami can cop to licenses and $ but come on Konami, you spent for H.O.T., BoA and S.E.S. in PPD so I know you aren't short on it. The competition is on. It starts January here supposedly, in the U.S.
Hopefully out of this we will all be the winners, Pump fans, DDR fans and both. |

Eh?
I have the full version of Funky Tonight, it sounds like the PIU version, except for the intro (which is just repeated).
It's not even supposed to be hip-hop, who said that? _________________

Incorrect, mi amigo. Ignition Starts, for example, from 1st Dance Floor, had a triple on hard mode. Every song on 1st Dance Floor (even the level 1 Forever Love) had at least one double step. |

I guess this might should explain :
2000 Pump It Up: The O.B.G. / The Oldies But Goodies (Arcade/PC)
Available game modes: Easy, Hard, Crazy, Double, Nonstop Remix (single/double), Battle
As we all know Crazy mode was when they really started using triples... but I believe one song from 1st mix (1998) has a triple.
I believe DDR Solo was also released the same year as PIU O.B.G so therefore... we must go back to what started the drops : PIU 1st mix... and I'm DAMN sure 2nd mix had an NSR with a drop... lol
Anyway we'll have to conclude that uh we don't know which threw in those holds first...
DDRMAX: Dance Dance Revolution 6th MIX Arcade/PS2 Japan 2001
thats the first DDR mix to feature hold steps
2001 Pump It Up: Extra (Arcade) Korea
the first PIU to feature hold steps
Of course we could go back and look at the first mix of Technomotion and see that it has both the PIU and DDR logos... therefore at some point they were all working together in some way... maybe they invented hold steps together? Heh. |

DDR Solo Bass Mix preceded OBG, but not the first PIU.
I swear OBG came out earlier than 2000 in the arcade, but eh.

Yes thank you, but we're not talking about DDR.
On a related note though, I remember hearing from many PIU enthusiasts when DDR Max came out that DDR ripped off PIU's freeze system. _________________

Yeah I've also been craving a new home fix...
If you own a CF v2 (and a modded sys) you have no excuse not to buy it (unless of course you don't like PIU) |
