it isnt real dancing, and it makes you even worse at actual dancing.

my parents are pretty cool about me playing DDR. it gets me out of the house, i've made tons of friends doing it, and its healthy for me. why not support it. they don't mind me going places to tournaments and such, so thats all good. as long as i don't bother them while i play, (back when my metal pad worked), its all good.

It doesn't make you worse. Then again, it doesn't make you better.

Sometimes, I get 5h1t like "You REALLY should be doing your homework", but other than that, they support it (My mom's thinking of sending me to a DDR tournament sometime soon!"

If it wasn't for DDR, I wouldn't have met some of my bestest friends. I prefer the DDR community over my school friends hands down. They're so much more fun, and energetic, and outgoing. I have a lot of fun just sitting there and watching people play. And you meet a lot of people who come up and go "whoa ur a nerd ok' and i'm like "but now i m not fatticus lol" and they do "o.. how did u get so good" and I ego trip E13.gif

DDR boosts my confidence, and lets me have fun with some of my closest friends. That, and helps me release tension when I'm angry or stressed. Aswell as boosts my lung capacity. DDR does a lot of good as far as I can see, and I think that's why my parents support it so much.

My mom isn't really against it. If she is against it she'll be fighting an uphill battle, cause my sisters also play ddr. My mom did say this one thing in chinese, "if you spend all that money on ddr I'll kill you!!!"
My dad however is a pretty mellow guy, he doesn't hate too many things, only thing he ever gets mad over is cooking.

They have no problem with me playing obsessively like I do, but when I play at home, I have to use my sister's teeny-tiny-TV because the music bugs the crap out of me mum. So it's not that she is against DDR, she just hates the music...

My parents love it. They love to watch it, and they fund all my pads/games for it. There have been many times where my mom send me off to the arcade to "get some excersise"

My mom only started having a problem with it when I got pregnant. Before that, she was willing to let me go play and give me money for it.

I'd say it'd benefit you in a way of acquiring better rhythm.

Maybe rudimentary feeling of rhythm, but nothing more. Also, ballroom dance (you might not be referring to that, but it's what I know about) doesn't require you to be completely on beat like DDR does, sometimes you hold back or push forward, and being EXACTLY on beat isn't particularly necessary, although you should not be rushing or lagging. Basically, you can mess with the rhythm in ballroom dancing, but you should end up on the same beat. In DDR, your feet are like a percussive instrument, so you do want your feet to be exactly on beat.
