I have. I got tired of it a while back, because the only song on 7th mix I couldn't pass was So Deep. And, no matter how hard I tried, it seemed I couldn't get more than a C on any of the other catas. Must have been because my pads were sticking horribly. So, I quit for a good six months.
When they released Extreme home version, I picked it up with a RO ignition pad, and after a little frustration due to lack of play, I'm regularly A'ing catas now. I still can't AA them.. every time I always get one boo and a few goods. *shrug* |

I already have. I just felt that I needed something more complex then just sticking to the base beat of EVERY song. So now I've moved over to the pop n' camp. The grass is much greener on this side and it is 100X more rewarding.
Another thing that made me not want to play was the atmosphere at each arcade I went to. I got tired of the hecklers, soccer moms, little kids, and people asking dumb a$$ questions. I just got sick of it all. I'm too much of a stoic person to hang around in a place for kids.
Now I will go to the arcades for Street Fighter, but not DDR. End of story.
p.s. The best thing I like about pop n' is the fact that it's alot more inexessible than DDR. You just can't walk in and be good in a week of playing. It truly takes some skill to be good at pop n' music.

you should try to play with friends that are real noobs and then beat there buttocks's when you play against them
(you could even try to teach someone how to play and then you could play because someone will be sitting behind you in complete awe)
^use this advice if you want^ (its probably not that great) |

There's actually a ton of people on this forum that don't play anymore. _________________

i think there are specific points in a person's progress where they are liable to quit. most ppl quit when they encounter a major obstacle (seven or ten foot jump). i doubt that ppl actually get bored of it unless they are extremely good. they usually just decide they are sick of trying to get better.
Asfor me, i have considered quitting a couple of times, both because i just got super pissed at the game. _________________

there were a couple times that i quit for the night because i get pissed at max300. but other then that i never have/(hopefully) never will even consider quitting. ive been playing for a year and have a lot of room for improvement.i would like to be able to AAA legends road oni, but that is way down the road from where i am. even after that, i would still play, work on PA, and come up with freestyle routines. the way i look at it, since im only 14, i still have at least a good 15-20 years before i would consider myself too old to play. but if im still in good health then, ill continue to play until im old and cant walk. _________________

I stopped playing for about a year. My home pads and games just collected dust. I donno, I just didn't have that same, "OMG DDR FREAKING ROCKS MY SOCKS OFF CUZ ITS AWESOMEx10!!!!" attitude anymore. Then my friend got into it so I kinda started to play again. I just play pretty casual now. I don't go to arcades just to play but I'll play it if the oppertunity presents itself. I really like showing up the kids who think they are hot shit. Especially if it's at an arcade i've never been to before. Quit? I don't think you can ever quit a video game... thats just sillly. But i'm not gonna go around saying, omg you can't quit DDR impossible l337 h4x0rz! You'll eventually wear out of it and not play it as much. |

You can stop playing for a bit.

yeah i have thought of it several times. I haven't AA'd R+P in 2 weeks, I had 37 greats on it and I keep getting a FC with 68. I didn't even AA my summer love the other day. I felt awful. Still want to quit. |

Sometimes....mostly when someone does something on the pad and afterwards I think to myself "I could never be that accurate and AAA that song." Then, I want to quit. All of a sudden, a parade of noobs come in and I feel like a DDR master. So, as long as there are noobs, i will never quit! _________________

On occasion, I get bored with it, and usually I will take a break. There have even been a few times when I wonder "why the hell do I still play this damn game?" but oddly enough, even with IIDX, Pop'n, Guitar Freaks, Drummania, In the Groove, and, for a brief time, Pump it Up at my access, I still inexorably find my way back to DDR.
Truthfully, I am not a stable enough person to say "I Quit" and have that be the end of it. Given my personality, I have "quit" several times, but I have made it back each time. _________________

I thought about it once about two months ago...I was stuck between 7's and 8's and I was totally burned out and frustrated because I hit a wall. That resolve lasted for about three days and when I started playing again, I was getting A's and B's on songs I had failed previously.
It's not in my character to give up on something halfway. I'm a perfectionist and I won't give up on something until I master it...and knowing that, it's safe to say I'll keep on playing DDR for as long as I can. And when I finally beat Legend Road, hell, there's always Doubles! _________________
