Red Octane Metal Pad vs. TX-2000 pad

Ok, I've been looking at the different topics about metal pads, and even though both of these pads seem to have bad results, I don't think I'd be able to spend $300(or however much) the CF is. And most of the problems I see with both of these is that the panels crack. So I want to know... which one has more value? Or should I just try to get a soft pad?
