Ok, I play DDR a_lot. My official Konami $50 pad is starting to wear down, however.

Now, x-mas isn't too far away, and I was thinking of asking for a Cobalt Flux pad for x-mas.

However, I am a very odd person who switches around what they are semi-obsessed with at the time. In 3-5 months, who knows if I will still like DDR? I probably will as I have found something fun that I am good at and can still progress at, but....

I also want an Mp3 player. I don't think I can get both a Cobalt Flux pad AND an Mp3 player, so one will have to wait for my b-day in March.

My friends tell me to get the Cobalt Flux.

But I am still... uncertain. I LOVE DDR so much it's scary, and I want to get better. A Cobalt Flux would really help me out. But I don't want to get a really nice pad and drop DDR in 1/2 a year...

So what should I do?

If you lose interest in DDR, you can sell the CF and use the money to get an MP3 player.

Since this is a DDR related forum, almost everyone will suggest the cobalt!

(as will I)

Get the cobalt, you dont need a 340 dollar mp3 player.

Ask your parents for a cobalt flux, and ask ur relatives for a mp3 player. It worked for me, why not you.

I had the same exact Dilema, I bought the cobaltflux, listen to music and dance, then go to the arcade, and dance some more. The point is, I would personally go with the cobalt flux but of course its your choice, not mine.

My relatives never get me more than a $20 gift card to a book store (Go mangas! ^^)

But yeah, that one person who said "which would you rather live with?"

He's right, I can always use my CD player for another 5 months... I have been for a couple years ^^

Cobalt flux it is!

Thanks guys

If you really want another pad, then go out and get an Ignition pad of somesort and an mp3 player.

Otherwise, get the mp3 player.

I have to agree with Slowpoke...it will be ridiculously easy to sell a CF pad in a few months if you lose interest in the game, so just go with that. You can get an MP3 player anytime.

Funny, this happened to me last Channukah: I wanted an iPod and a CF as my only two gifts. My parents told me there was no way I was getting both, so, they agreed to buy one if I bought the other. I bought the Flux, since it was cheaper. Maybe you could try that (or something similar) with your parents.

i would get the cobalt flux, because its much more expensive than an mp3 player, since CF pads can be about $300, and mp3 players are a lot cheaper.

Uhm, Make your own pad and buy an MP3 player. (Cannot stand the CF).

I would say get the pad. You can get first gen 5GB ipods refurbed from apple for $99 every now and then. I paid $240 for my second gen 10GB and that was about 1.5 years ago. MP3 players are easier to find cheaply, I do suggest an ipod though, especially since the new 4th gens came out, people will sell their old ones very cheap on ebay. The old ones and new ones work just the same except they look prettier as they get newer, and old ones cost very very cheap. ipod was the best thing I bought, i still use it everyday and after 1.5 years I still get a few hours battery time, but it is less than half of the original time. IMHO, it charges to 90% in under an hour, and it beats buying replacable batteries.

And the ipod battery issue, bad batteries get about 4 hours instead of 8-12 hours like they should. When they die its $50 or less to replace them, not the rumored $100 or impossible.

So, mho, get the pad, and if you want an mp3 player, but a $50 mp3 cd player, or save up for a used/refurbed ipod.

Whatever you do, dont try and get a cheaper pad like redoctane and a player. My redoctane pad already has a cracked arrow, they have bad contact system and weak arrows..

*edit* CF pad will hold its value better than an mp3 player as well

I'd go for the CF, as it cost more than an mp3 player. (unless you actually want an mp3 player worth 300+, it isn't worth it though, IMO)

Well, this remains me of my debate. wait till jan. and get laptop, then get 2x CFs in march....... or get 2x CFs now and wait till march to get laptop.
(btw my birthday isn't in march, it just usually takes me three months or more to save 300$ without spending it riiight.gif )

Any opinions on that? I'm learning toward laptop first because I can use it for school and my writing (its not a gaming laptop), but its gonna be a falcon and therefore will be incredibly expensive.

But if i get the CF i'll probably save more money, by not spending everyday of the week in the arcades during winter break.

If it's not going to be a gaming laptop, why would you have to spend so much money on it?

Well it doesn't look like Cobalt Flux pad prices are dropping anytime soon because they're doing great business with it still. I'm sure MP3 players will drop 50 dollars soon. And by the time you get sick of DDR it will be next Christmas so you can get an MP3 player for like 200.
