any of the common points for the controller grounds (make sure you know what the ground for the controller is and what the hots are) just don't burn up your chip (too much heat will burn up a chip)

You can solder the ground at the red dot. You only need ONE ground wire. Just scrape the surface until you see the copper and solder over there.

I'm curious, how did everyone manage to get their boards soldered? I think I'm missing something, but I can't hold 4 things at once. (pcb, wire, solder and iron)

I have finally decided to build my own pads(riptide design) and was wondering if there were any really good instructions out there on how to build a trick bar( I just cant get past the ending of paronoia survivor without it

)out there. Could you guys point me to a site where i could find these instructions? Thanx!

So, I understand I solder the ground wiere where you put the red dot, but where do I solder the up, down. left, right?

You have uploaded the same picture with different names.

You have to solder on the yellow part. You can see that it's the oposite side of the one touching the red dot (ground).

Ok...so I was considering building my own pad...and today in my physics class, i was talking to the kid who is leader of robotics club at my school....he said they have some 25000 dollars or so in funding and at the moment, they don't have any big projects...so i asked if i could get some help with building a pad....he said that if i go next week and ask everyone if they'd help, there is a good chance that they'll pay for a lot of the stuff...he actually mentioned that they have lots of lexan in their "scrap bin"....i was ecstatic.....just thought i would share my happy moment for everyone else's enjoyment

Is there any way to make the homemade pads any more like the arcade pads? Any ideas for alternatives to the wood support system? What do the arcade pads use?

Bretzel, you couldn't make it any better than the arcade pads. It's already better. Trust me. I have the finished product, and it's amazing. You'll despise the arcade compared to yours. The number one thing about it is your metal pad will be shinier because it won't be abused as much.

p.s. the arcade pads are made of aluminum and steel. and lexan. and stickers.

very heavy, very hard to replicate without machining equipment and autocad. and lots of money.

i think...we need a super genius electrician to somehow create a real arcade pad compatible with a ps1/ps2.

I wonder how many people would pay for it.

the electrical stuff isn't hard, its the expence the platform would be thats the kicker (and shipping costs for it) just the stainless steel per corner (1/4 inch stainless, about a foot square) costs about $70 PER SQUARE

I'm sure I could design the system to be an exact copy, but it would weigh the right weight, and cost about the same as buying yourself a machine ^^

Okay, so I'll shell out 20-30 bucks for a madcatz http://www.madcatz.com/MadCatz/product_details.jsp?product_id=6040 universal pad, right? And then I'll use Toolookah's tutorial @ http://www.tolookah.net/DDR/ to wire my pad up to the madcatz control box. But, if I want two pads like so: http://server5.uploadit.org/files/Ulala321-twopads.jpg I'm going to have to shell out another 20-30 bucks for another mad catz pad and wire it just as I did the first? Also, will I want to put the circuit board(s) into a control box, or does it matter? Thanks guys.
