3 years on christmas, saw it at the arcades.

...$0. I don't play at arcades much. Maybe when I get my own car and a job...
5) What are your likes / dislikes regarding DDR?
The fun, and excersise. Some of the players can be...really annoying and rude. But that applies to everything.
6) If you could change anything about the game, what would you change?
Ooh, more Happy Hardcore, Drum n Bass, and DANCEMANIA BASS, definetely.
7) For what reasons do you play DDR (entertainment, exercise, ect.)?
Entertainment, excersise, etc.
8) What, in your opinion, are the main draws of DDR?
It's innovative, and it's practically designed to make you go "woah, what is that?" when you pass it. It's just very unique.
9) Do you believe DDR will ever become a sport?
It already is, if you live in Norway.
9b) What is your opinion on the attempted formation of a DDR league?
...It would be cool I guess...

Kool-aid. Or water. Either works!

Home. Because im to far from the local arcades and have no car of my own.

When it's cool. Morning/night.

PA, because it's fun.

If you are a veteran, what is your opinion of newer players?
Encourage them. Unless their snobby. In that case, be as rude as possible to them. Damn hotshots.

It certainly makes it more popular. And louder.

um...PA, whoever gets higher score, freestyle, whoever the judges like better. I've only been to one tourney, so I can't answer question 2.

I just said that, but judges score it generally by personality, flair, and quality of routine.

Depends. I wouldn't know

Yes, because it's becoming very popular, mainly as a weight loss technique, and everyone seems "into it" nowadays.

...Dancing? Seriously, what the hell kind of question is this? I'm STILL not KCET's arcade division.

Nope.

1 1/2 months, I decided to vist a local arcade and was amazed by the mad skills I saw being laid down on the DDR machine.
4) How much money do you believe you spend weekly on DDR?
I only play at home, I prefer not to embarass myself in public.
5) What are your likes / dislikes regarding DDR?
Likes - All the different game systems that support it, the diversity of the people that play it, trick for getting a fat kid to exercise .
Dislikes - People at the arcade who get mad at you when you compliment them on their mad skillz.
6) If you could change anything about the game, what would you change?
I'd add alot more songs, in the XBOX version there doesn't seem to be enough, IDK maybe its just me..

Oddly enough I wear things you really shouldn't wear while DDR'ing, like extremely baggy pants that I have to hold up, giant combat boots, but I do atleast wear cotton shirts while DDR'ing.

At home to prevent embarrassment.

During night, cuz I play outside, its easier to see the tv.

I just hit the arrows and make what few ones I can look good.

I've been playing pretty constantly for about a year, and I was introduced to it about 2 years ago.
4) How much money do you believe you spend weekly on DDR?
About $10 a week
5) What are your likes / dislikes regarding DDR?
I like when I get AAs on songs that are easy I hate when people shadow me
6) If you could change anything about the game, what would you change?
Less tokens for more songs! Also, I'd take out a few arrows in a few songs *glares at Max 300*

Entertainment value, and because a whole bunch of my friends play it too.

The flashing lights and loud music

Probably, but they'll have to take the bars off the machines in the Olympics ^^

Coke or pizza - neither of which enhance my ddr skills

I usually wear a t-shirt with an overshirt, and jeans and my old, old Osiris D3s. Nowadays I use my new Vans shoes to play *is sad when people go on the machine barefooted*

I play at the Sahali Ruckers (arcade) in Kamloops, because the pads are nice...AND ITS THE ONLY PLACE!
12) Is there a particular time of day you prefer to play on, and if so, why?
I like playing around 5pm, because you can usually get a crowd going.
12b) Is there a particular style of play you prefer (pa, freestyle, ect.), and if so why?
Um...I just play freestyle because its fun to play and fun to watch.
13) If you are a new player to this game, what is your opinion of veterans?
If you are a veteran, what is your opinion of newer players?
The new players are usually really energetic, but some are really cocky. I enjoy helping the ones who are more modest about their abilities, but I'll always try to show up the ones who are being arrogant to give them something to think about.
14) Have you ever encountered any problems with owners of the game (an angry arcade manager for example)?
The manager got angry at us when we brought drinks on the machine.
14b) If so, what sparked the problem and how was (or wasn't) the problem resolved?
The problem was resolved once we made a deal with the manager not to drink while playing. Easy enough
14c) Have you ever encountered any problems with other players, or with onlookers?
Some players have been really pissy if they get a bad score. Some of the onlookers late at night will try to frick around with the pads and whatnot, but its usually taken care of by whoever is working.
14d) If so, what caused the problem and how was (or wasn't) it resolved?
The players took a breather, and the latenight asshats get kicked out.
15) What affect(s) do you believe DDR has on the arcade environment?
I think it brings some action to the arcade. It can be used as sort of a spectator sport, so I think its good times.

...There's people jumping around on a flashing machine! what could have a bigger effect?!?
15c) How did DDR become so widespread amongst arcades?
People liked the games, so word of mouth went around, and arcade owners wanted to cash in on it. Then Konami smiled ^^

It was introduced in the form of 5th Mix about 2 years ago.

We hold tourneys every Sunday here, but they're not REALLY well done. Its all based on score, so its not fun in that aspect. The people who play at the tourneys makes it fun.

With an explanation of the rules, and distribution of tokens.

Players choose all 4 of their songs before the competition starts, in the order they want them.
Um...Player one chooses the song and difficulty, and Player two has to do it at the same difficulty. Mods are chosen freely.
Then, Player two chooses the song and difficulty, player two does it at the same difficulty level, and mods are again chosen freely.
The winner is the person with the highest score.
17e) How do you score freestyle play?
We don't

about 5 months, and i found out about it at my friend's parties he has weekly.

about $5-$10 every other week.

I like that it's fun and awesome, I dont like that sometimes I overplay it and then my legs hurt for a couple days.

More songs in each home release.

3) How long have you been playing DDR and how/when was it first introduced to you?I've been playing since Feb 2003. I was first introduced to the game when I saw it at an arcade in Southland Mall in Hayward, CA
4) How much money do you believe you spend weekly on DDR?$40/week
5) What are your likes / dislikes regarding DDR?What I like about DDR is the steps are fun to play and some of the songs are cool to listen to. What I dislike about the game is some of the songs are "lame" and the length of the songs are about 90 seconds.
6) If you could change anything about the game, what would you change?I would give it a new interface, similar to beatmania IIDX and have the songs about 2 minutes in length.
