how do i get the torrents to work on step? Do I need step? I have the torrent, I just want to know how to use it.

By step, you mean stepmania, right?
(assuming a yes)
You need bit torrent (google and download it) to actually get the files from the torrent. A Torrent file is a small file that lets you connect to other people who are sharing the same file and download the files to a specific place on your computer.
You have the torrent, now save the files somewhere.
Once that's done, extract the .zips (or .rars) into the songs directory in stepmania.
