I dont think its the wrong thing to do, you paid for the game so you can play it whatever way you are more comftorable. _________________

I use the bar whenever it helps me, and I don't have a problem with other people doing the same. I saw a girl playing 5-footers and holding the bar with one hand, and that was fine by me. I, on the other hand, have found no reason to touch the bar other than for the last 13 steps of MAX 300. Fine by me, too.
Whatever works for you. _________________

What does it matter?
Not everyone plays the game EXACTLY ALIKE!!! That was her style, whether she is new or not, thats how she plays. Perhaps you should spend a little more time with the spell checker than you do critiquing people when they are having fun. _________________

This has been said a million times, but I'll say it anyway: Whatever works for you. Is it kinda funny watching somebody bar rape a Beginner/Light song? Yes. Don't put them down for it though, they're still new. How many of you put your feet back in the middle after each step when you first started? I know I did but I got better and don't need to do that anymore...they'll grow out of it. So their dollar, their playing style. _________________

I'm the kinda person that only uses it once I get tired during a max song (half way through usually) or when it's a complicated part of a song; I usually grab the bar with one hand during the 7 and runs on CSFIL:SM |

You know, I didn't even discover the bar until a few weeks ago (I started out at home on XBox ), but I must say, I do find it helpful on occassion.
Main reason being I'm short and wear tall shoes all the time- when the shoes come off, my pants cover my heels and cause me to slip sometimes... use of the bar helps me keep from slipping while I've got on my "parachute-material" pants. |

I haven't used the bar once and I've played both Beginner and Light. In fact, this Saturday, I've already picked out my songs on Extreme Arcade I'm gonna dance to and I don't plan to bar hug on any of them.
Butterfly, Kiss Kiss Kiss, V, Speed Over Beethoven. All on light.
The jumping thing is crazy. You're gonna wear yourself out trying to show off and jump too high. I do the jump ASAP, get back to center, and prepare for the nest steps if there's a space between the jump and next steps. If there's steps right AFTER the jump, I do the jump ASAP, then immediately jump to the next steps, avoiding the center all together.
I saw this one small kid pick Trip Machine survivor on Heavy. He held the bar the whole time, leaning back on it and letting his feet fly over the arrows. I was like Woah. _________________

JMAN, that is officially the best arguement I've ever seen against bar rapers. It's for good reason they included that as well.
I double bar raped Max300 Doubles once, and my left hand got too sweaty half way through. My left hand slipped off it and my back slammed into the left bar. Had I been in a different part of the song I could have fell through the center, which wouldn't have been pretty. I haven't bar raped doubles since. |
