I was just wondering if anyone had anyone input on how you or someone you heard about went about starting a DDr club or convincing them to add it to the curriculum?

you don't...most schools wouldnt really support it unless you/your club paid for it. your best bet is a PS2, a TV, two metal pads, and the home games.

Thanks for the input and I think it is true that many schools wouldn't fund it but I was already of thinking peopel would have to donate.

A DDR club seems sort of meh. A bemani club though, that would kick arse!

(Some one needs to continue going to "skool").

It totally would! Too bad absolutely no one (except a few but they aren't regulars) play DDR/any other Bemani, or if they do I have never seen em play.

At my school every 2 weeks after school some club (don't know which one) held a Smash Bros. Melee tourney I asked them if they would hold a DDR tourney and they said no cause THEY SUCK, but I did enter the Smash tourney and got 3rd place!

my school has a dance club with different sections. theres a breaking, step, hip hop (i teach in this section), and a DDR section (i OWN everyone this section). so its not technically a DDR club, its just included.

I started a DDR club at my school, I used a Ps2 and an xbox and had 2 rooms going and just alot of cheep basic soft pads, it was a great turn out, very popular club. I was a seinor when i did this, I'm graduated now. i herd that a sophmore kept it going. The way my school works is if the club is active for 3 years then it gets funding from the school. So one more year and then the school will budget for an arcade maching! If you arn't graduating in a year like i was it might be something to look into. Hey, no one can say I didn't do my part for my school.

I got my DDR club started because I just wanted to. All I did was write a really persuasive essay:

http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=94608

and BOOM! I got students and teachers supporting my back. The only requirement was that I needed a teacher advisor and at least 10 people interested. On club day (where all the clubs go to the cafeteria to promote their own clubs) me and my friend set up a tv, two redoctane pads, a PS2 and a TV that we borrowed from school and, just like in the arcades, we attracted a HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE CROWD!!! Too bad like 1/15 person from that HUGE crowd signed up but we got like 40 members or so lol. So we got a huge crowd, and BAM, DDR CLUB. Since we got the minimum requirement of 10 people (which we got at least 40) it's a huge success. Except for the fact that we needed a teacher advisor, but w/e lol.
It's pretty funny that the Asian Culture Club was right near us in Club Day...hmm.....::cough cough:: stereotypical???.........so anyways..... We meet almost every weekday except Tuesday and we meet at the Cafeteria. The club is doing quite well except for the fact that we need new ideas soon....The first meeting is today after school actually...need to come up with some new ideas. riiight.gif So yeah....it's not rlly THAT hard to make a club. Just have connections with at least one or two teachers and have common sense. Its seriously NOT THAT HARD![/i]

Thats so cool. I think it neat that people are actually promoting ddr even in school!
I really like your essay. Thanks for the hints
(don't sew if a bit of your essay ends up in mine riiight.gif )

Eh. We kinda do. Every once in awhile, the afterschool teacher suggests a party, and me and my friend ask if we can bring DDR, she usually says yes, so then, we bring in the tv from the library, and bring our RO pads in, and play. =P It's pretty fun. Everyone at our school who tries usually does all songs on light, and some on Standard. We got everyone in the 7th and 8th grades interested in DDR because me and a graduated friend did MAX 300 for our "May Mayhem" (7th and 8th only) talent show. =P But I know that if I get into my first choice for HS, they have a DDR club. happy.gif

Actually our DDR Club started this year. All we had to do was come up with the paper work, a supporting teacher, positions, and go to a meeting and we get $700 a year to spend! Woot! We also have Beatmania and weekly trips to Kahunaville, which has two DDR Extremes.

Hmmmm, I've been wishing my school had a DDR club ever since this topic started, but I just think if I somehow got one started, nobody at my school would join. Most people at my school that I tell about say "That seems REEELY gay. I CANT BELIEVE YOU PLAY THAT GAME FOR GAYWAD DANCER PEOPLE!!" But yeah, if I could somehow figure out if anyone at my school was interested (other than my friend who got me into DDR) in the club, if there were enough people who were, I would definitley attempt to start a DDR club. Especially with the 2 riptide pads I'm about to make.

i started one at my school, was pretty easy, just got a moderator to agree, a room to put it in, and there it was. we meet every friday, with three ps2's goin, projecting on different walls. we have about 30 or so members, but it's still a lot of fun. we're currently having fundraisers to buy ignitions for club use, cuz the soft pads are beginning to die on us. happy.gif
