That last comment was pathetic. I'm 27, what's that guy's excuse? |

I think it's awesome to be an adult because I've conditioned my body to perform like a race horse. All those kids get jelous when I can play Maxx without the bar(hell any ten or all of them in a row for that matter).
So being older has its advantages. Those guys tend look at me like i'm their hero.

Thanks for posting that comic, it was great. I just turned 19 and love being an "older" player. No one makes fun of me while I play, I can drive to all the local arcades, and (as the comic stated) my disposable income is much greater than it once was. Don't let the younger players get you down! _________________

Oh, I don't let the kids get me too down. I'm 31 and happy to be this active. And at least I've tried the damned game, as opposed to some adults who look at me funny when I get on the thing (you guys out at the bowling lanes, I'm looking at you! YOU try this sometime!)
Okay, the 8 year old romping around on Heavy after I've tried Standard and failed again, yes. But the others....nah. I just sit back and try and pick up some hints for better play.
The tendinitis in both my ankles, however...gah. I worked with Extreme last night at home for about three hours straight, and this morning I'm hobbling like a horse bound for the glue factory.
Ow. Ow. Ow.

OK I'm prob one of the most 'senior' members on here and I love DDR. I can't seem to get past the 7/8 foot range though but then again I don't get to play anywhere near as often as I would like. I think DDR appeals to people of all ages/demographics-its one of the best things about this game. I have been in the DDR scene for about 3 years and have never had anyone be anything but enouraging about my 'senior' status or lack of skills.

Nice to hear that I'm not the only over-25 player around... =) I started playing at the ripe old age of 27 and in a year and a half have gotten to be a fairly decent player... always amusing to beat the crap out of some kid half my age.
Of course it helps that I look much younger than my actual age - indeed, I have been mistaken many times for 16-18 and rarely does anyone guess my age at more than 21. Truth is, though... that people my age aren't as fun to hang out with. Most girls my age have kids and wouldn't consider hanging out an arcade very much fun. I've made many friends playing DDR, most of them in the 19-22 age range, and have generally found them to be a superior fun group of people to hang out with. _________________

I got my grandma to try DDR once, last Christmas Eve.
She failed miserably at It's a Small World on Basic. Then my uncle beat it. She accused him of having played before and made him try it on Trick. Then he failed miserably. _________________

That comic was good shi.t lol. Being an older player does have its advantages indeed.
I'm also another adult that refuses to grow up. The kid context to "have fun and enjoy it as such" is what I live by.
As someone else stated, my chick mates around my age have settled down and see the videogame thing as a "kids thing." DDR has also provided a travelling aspect to it, and I've met lots of people and made a good number of friends along the way.
Currently I'm teaching my 12-year old nephew to play. It's nice having a younger member of the family to play with you, especially when they're completely new to it. |
