It might not be worth mentioning, but if you permanently deactivated your corner buttons, you could still play as player 1 (or I believe have two players going at once) if you have a newer PS2 with a built-in infared reader and a PS2 remote control. You'd just hit the X button on your remote instead of the pad when you needed it, and it works as a controller for Player 1. But that still leaves the more difficult problem of deactivating the corner buttons (though I guess folks with knowledge of circuitry, a good scissors, and some ambition could figure that out).

not hard...took 15 min and gives the CF a better arcade feel.

Oh, sorry. But I play flat footed and I've never had a problem. The only time I play on my tippys is Tsugaru gallops.

Huh, I don't seem to have this problem with DDR Max 2, where the corner buttons also serve as arrows... I don't have Extreme quite yet.

I think it's because my shoe size is 7 1/2 Youth (yeah, : E11.gif all you want, peoples.gif all you want, and laugh.gif all you want...), and I almost always play on the tips of my feet...should I have a problem with Extreme?

To put it simply, KOA should fix their flaw in the game, since it makes the game play and your controller for the game below the standard it should be. I am not going to buy the game because of this.

Louie826 has posted a modified Extreme US System file that has the Dance Play option set properly. It turns out that while the code to *change* the option in the Options Menu was gone, the code to handle the setting is still there, and the option was stored in the same place as it was in MAX and MAX2.

So, if you have the appropriate memory card hardware, you can download his save here.

On the Ignitions:

What about just removing the corner arrows? (Unscrew the top black box, and then put physical buttons on the box in their place?

Anyone like/dislike this idea?

Yeah, I don't think there is a mod for the corner buttons on soft pads. I play on an official Konami soft pad and there has been no problem for me whilst I play flat footed so I'm assuming it's just the style of how other people play.

I remember that the Cobalt Flux center platform has a piece of cardboard under it so you can't use it if you play DDR. Since that deactivates the sensor from getting pushed you could do that same for the corner buttons. =P It's a cheaper alternative really.
