yeah .tk has been a prob for a few people i know.....
now let me get this straight, i have to cut each layer? how do i do the sensor layers without frick them up? or, with my specific problem would it be better to just cut a little slot in the top plastic and move the arrow back in and tape it shut again? _________________

yes...you do have to cut each layer, you have a free space around the edges of each layer...but if its just that, i would go for the little slot in the top.... _________________

I have a "good customer service" story, if it will help anybody decide where to spend their money.
I ordered an ignition-style PS2 pad from Level Six a few weeks ago, for $39 (just before they came in; they're $44 now). I tried it out, and it's a lot nicer than my RedOctane thin pad that I paid almost as much for a year ago. But after a few days I felt like the up and left arrows were producing phantom steps. Not while the pad was just sitting there, only when I was dancing a song. (Any of you veterans see where this is going yet?)
Anyway, I sent them a note asking what I should do, and without any questions, without asking me to prepay, they CROSS SHIPPED me another pad. Very nice. I tried out the new pad, and realized... that I am an idiot. I had left on the option that causes the corner buttons to make arrow steps, and nothing was wrong with either pad at all. Since I had planned to buy a second one anyway, I just offered to pay for the one they had shipped me, and they said that was fine. No extra shipping, which was a nice surprise.
Level Six's service reps were unfailingly polite and helpful. Twice I had to send a second email after waiting a few days for a reply, but both times they responded promptly to the second one.
How good is the pad, really? I'm not qualified to judge for expert players (my proudest accomplishment to date is an A on Tsugaru Standard). I certainly score better than I did on the thin pad, and the hard foam feels nice. So I'm happy, and I'm very happy with their customer service. How often does that happen? |

Hopefully someone has run into this problem...
I recently purchased a pair of BNS DX pads. Generally, the've been working great. I've got a problem with one though. Underneath the four arrow buttons there's a sort of flat, semi-hard piece of plastic which makes the arrows "raised" so you can feel where you are with your feet. On one of the pads, two of these peices aren't under the arrows properly -- they're off at a diagonal and sticking into the center. I've tried to massage them back into place, but they seem kind of stuck. So... is there any way I can fix this myself, or am I going to have to try to return this pad for a working one? |

I ran into this problem myself this weekend, it seems quite common. If you are still under warranty, go on ahead and send it back and ask for a new one.
If not, try http://www.ddr-pad-fix.tk . |

Ok from the recommendation i got here i bought these pads
http://www.buynshop.com/productinfo/38/VG-DDR-ULTD3/
I heard of some mods you can do to make the life of these pads a lot longer. Most notably one with duct taping the white insides to prevent tearing. I'm not sure if the plywood mod would be apliciple here since they have a 1inch foam insert but anyway i wouldn't be able to do that since i'm in a dorm room and space is already tight. I can't seem to find that thread or post so if someone could either tell me what the mods are or a link to the post it would be great.
Thanks a bunch |

Offhand, for those of you doing the board/vinyl runner flat pad mod mentioned throughout this thread, when you stapled down the clear runner material from home depot, did you put the slightly textured side up for a bit of grip, or facing down so it'd be easier to slide? _________________

hah this is the perfect topic for me.. neways this is my first post so dont mind if i dont got a siggy or a avatar yet, but check out my site on how to modify your softpad into a, well, metal-less metal pad. alrite the site is geocities.com/foldupddr
As you may notice i made it as basic as possible and made as many pics as i could, cuz im pretty sick of sites with all this bullshit that dosnt help at all... its not a userfriendly site its a informational one. |
