I like the arcade pad 'cause I can step hard and is easier to play in shoes than in bare feet or socks E1.gif . For christmas, I am going to buy two metal pads for ps2 laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif so I can: up.gif down.gif

I like playing at home. I have problems with the arcade... I get embarassed when I play cause I sweat. People call me "Girl with the red face" after gym is over at school. disgust.gif It's easier at home, too.

I do like showing off at the arcade though... is that so bad? E4.gif

Well, speaking as someone who played exclusively at home on my X-box for about 5 months before even trying the arcade version, I can now say that I really prefer the arcade over all.

Two main reasons here... first, the massive song selection of the arcade versions! Extreme & 5th mix are my favorites. In addition (and I know this is a common theme), the pad response is just so much more reliable. I only have fairly cheap soft pads at home, and they don't miss very often considering their price, but I'll take the arcade version any time over that soft pad.

The one thing that I really had a problem with though, was the slight timing difference when going from soft home pad to the arcade. The first few times I played arcade, I kept getting a huge amount of Greats. I had to end up playing some songs on Light just to figure out what was wrong. Of course, the problem was that I was almost always stepping slightly too early on the arrows. I figured that this must be due to the fact that the arcade pads seem to register a touch as soon as you contact the surface, while my soft home pad takes a little more pressure before it registers a touch. Plus, I play on carpet at home, so that probbably worsens the response somewhat.

The thing is, I played a ton of arcade over the last 4 days (my feet are still very sore) and I finally got to where I was pretty pleased with by getting mostly Perfect's. Trouble is, now I'[m almost afraid to go back to my home version for fear of screwing up my timing for the arcade game. Oh well, I guess I could have worse problems;)

I like both. I can usually get more perfects at home. but i made several accomplishments in the arcade, like, csfilsm, and crash with a AA.

I like the arcade version a lot better. I like the atmosphere. Even though I have it for ps2 at home I don't play if very much. I just think that the arcade is more fun.

I think playing DDR at home can have some advantages. Gives players time to build skill on whatever they lack in. But as far as getting great experience, the arcade is better. There's no cheesy soft home pad, and you can learn techniques from other players. That and it's fun to chill with other players and take each other on.

Keep stepping E7.gif

My technique works so much better on an arcade pad now that I've been practicing, but $0.75 for three songs adds up. Plus there's a lot of douchebags at my mall so I get laughed at if I screw up.

It's nice being able to play MaxX as the extra stage at home and not having people make fun of your failure...when will people realize that failure is the first step towards perfection?

So...arcade if it's joint premium day and there aren't many douchebags around.

arcade, home doesn't count. judge 4 is harder than judge 3, and playing in socks is annoying unless you have a metal pad, then home is alright, but it makes playing at the arcade harder.

I agree i like just playing at home with the paddle the arcade atmosphere is just so much better to dance at because you can show off for a crowd.

I've been trying to beat them. I started playing in June and I can beat Sakura and Bag, I'm almsot there on Max 300. I can AA Burning Heat, Xenon and some other difficult catas...the problem is I can't find the time/money to get to the arcade enough to get exposure to the tougher 10's and when I do, they're there acting like douchebags.

Not everyone there is a douchebag, but there's some big Midwestern tournament guy that plays there and he always acts like a douche...to me at least.

I'm used to competitive speech and theater and stuff where reguardless of skill, we all seem to have a mutual respect for each other simply going out there and doing what you enjoy...I just figured DDR would be like that, too.

But whatev...sooner or later I'll make PSMO into my b**ch.

Yea same here. Although It is better in the arcade if you can not overstep and hit that bar.
