The answer is no though, the timing is much different!, when you will play in the arcade you will do really bad (i know from experience)

But the timing can be adjusted to be exactly the arcade, so the answer is yes, really.

Timing yes, what about the offset?

It's kind of impossible to get stepmania EXACTLY LIKE THE ARCADE.

Also take into consideration, computer speed and lag

Yeah, is the timing problem a rare occurance or does it always exist? I want to know because i am gonna try this and if it dont work i am gonna have to shell out alot of money for a PS2 and the 3 DDR games.

I'd also like to state for the record that I personally notice no difference between my Stepmania and the arcade timings. I get identical scores, both of which improve with practice.

In other words, "I don't know what the above people are complaining so much about..."

Seconded. If you use the timing provided at Aaron In Japan's forum you can get it damn close. Close enough to where it's damn near impossible to tell.

Go to your StepMania CVS folder, then Data, then find and edit the following values into the StepMania configuration settings:

JudgeWindowAttackSeconds=0.120000 (assumed to be same as "good")
JudgeWindowBooSeconds=0.150000
JudgeWindowGoodSeconds=0.120000
JudgeWindowGreatSeconds=0.090000 (same as SM's defaults)
JudgeWindowMarvelousSeconds=0.015000
JudgeWindowMineSeconds=0.120000 (assumed to have "good"'s window)
JudgeWindowOKSeconds=0.250000 (just an assumption)
JudgeWindowPerfectSeconds=0.030000 (this would be around judge difficulty 5 2/3)

Note: In your configuration settings it may be somethinig like JudgeWindowSecondsPerfect like it was in mine.

It really depends on what kind of computer you've got. If your computer can handle stepmania, it could very well act as a replacement for console DDR games. You'd be able to play ALL of the DDR songs in the comfort of your own home, as well as be able to download other peoples songs and steps that they have made, as well as create steps of your own for your favorite tracks. I've modded a pad of mine, and i've got an adapter on the way, and I am going to use stepmania as a replacement for home/console DDR, and as practice for going out to the arcade. I won't have to dump dollars into my local DDR machine just to practice a song that I previously couldn't play at home anymore E7.gif
