has anyone tried the "new" hard pad?

Looks like a hard plastic and that breaks easily. Don't get it, especially for the fact that the idiots who made this limit your stepping area, especially since it's a circle panel.

ok, any suggestions on a better one, cause the soft pad i have right now sucks (about a $100 budget)
