woops. ummm... maybe you could clip a little hole on the edge of the sheet metal (thats the technique ur using, right?) And then twist a knot around the end of the wire... then add some solder on it to help hold it down. _________________

what kind of pad design are you using.if its a riptid pad with the 2 pieces of plexiglass for each arrow just put the cracked piece under the good piece.if your just using one piece per arrow ull need more plexieglass. _________________

How should I clip a hole. Should I drill a hole or do you have some other method? |

bonedancer: i would suggest drill (with a 2x4 or some other wood backing it) or just punch a nail through it (same thing, make sure something backs it)
main idea is make sure something backs it, because otherwise, it's gonna bend funny _________________

I was trying to do just that when I built my pad, and I called all of the local home deopts and lowes and neither would cut the lucite. But I said a few pages back cuttin lucit, plexi, lexan ect ISNT hard if you have a circular saw and the right blade to cut plastics with, I was very worried about cuttin it then after I made the first cut I was like wow this is really easy seeing as I have the right blade, and for the fun of it I cut a scrap peice with the wood blade I have and it totally demolished the lucite. |

Wow... if that works for ya... what kind of circular saw blade? I generally like to use a jigsaw with a metal fast cut blade... it's just right so that it won't generate too much friction and melt the acrylic while also not being so coarse to where it cracks the acrylic. _________________

I am using DDRHomepads design and I punctured with a nail through the peg board of the bottom metal piece and I soldered and it worked fine. What I am wondering is what to do to the top metal piece that is attached to the acrylic. Thank you for responding. |

Whoppee! I have all the materials for the 1st 3 steps and boy that was cheap.
28 Guage Sheet Metal: $25
Brackets: $4 a pair
Plywood: I used some leftover chipwood from our garage (just as good) for free!
</Canadian Prices>
WHOPPEE!!
EDIT: Damn! We forgot the MDF rails, but we are getting pine instead. So we end on step two tonight... |

Its a blade i picked up at home depot I can get the exact specs on it later after I sleep, but it has alot of really short teeth, and it says its for cutting plastics and laminants..... errr EDIT I went to homedepot.com and found... Cant seem to link so goto their page and put: DW3526 in the search and it will bring up the blade I used. |

Interesting, I might have to try and find that blade sometime.... maybe when I get a circular saw, lol. I moved into an apartment and don't really have space to work with power tools anyway... _________________

Hehe, yea... I was on night shift for about 2 years. It was kinda hard to keep up with everything... DDR was first on my list for hobbies to stop doing on night shift... It's kinda hard to come home with the sun shining, play DDR and then go to sleep. Even harder to post on boards talking about DDR without playing it . _________________

Very true . But, I still manage to put in at least a few hours a week, even if it's 12am @ night . But luckily I am renting a room from a house, and not a dorm (college life).
Oh yeah, welcome back
I did mention a while back I was gonna document my dance pad that I build and designed (partially). It didn't turn out as well as I hoped (like most others here) so I actually abandoned that idea.

P.S. Are there any problems w/the FAQ that I wrote, and are there any updates that I should post on it? lmk, thanks _________________
