Konami used to make quite possibly THE best dance platform awhile ago (might've been pre-MAX era).

Does anyone have information and pictures of this platform?

(Hint: The U.S never saw it.)

All I remember is that it was like $2k.

I've been looking around for some information for it, but now that there are other non-official metal pads it's hard to easily find info.

I remember seeing that pic a few years back (2 yrs maybe?). It looks pretty insane. Probably costs all three of those guys' paychecks for at least a year biggrin.gif.

Come to think of it, that pad is probably STILL the best "ddr hard pad" on the market (if its still being produced).

I was looking for this puppy for a while. I'll be in Tokyo March '05 so I'll have a field day in Akihabara.

Ah, the $2k metal pad. Only 100 of those were made or so, so I heard... you had to actually call Konami and register your name into a lottery to even get your hands on one of them, so I heard.

They only made one set of production for those things. Man, one in good condition could very well run for more cash than the machine, considering the rarity of them!

Crazy.

Cause they were $2000 four years ago. How many do you think they could sell?!? Are they really worth 6x a CF?

Just my 2 cents,
Mike

They are worth 6X a CF because it uses arcade parts.

Well, If I were going to purchase one of these puppies I'd want 2 which would be roughly $3600 *since they were in the $1800 price range*. For $3600 I could almost buy an entire machine... That's why I wouldn't have bought these.

Anything over 1000 dollars is a HUGE waste of money on DDR if youre not buying an actual machine.

Most Japanese players don't have enough room for an arcade machine of their very own. This pad could easily be turned on its side and tucked out of the way.

Yeah, as Cutriss just mentioned, portability and space is a huge thing in Japan. I think these things would sell, and they should probably make more. Thats just my intuition, though. :b

You people all realize that DDR machines cost as much as IIDX machines do back in the day in japan, right?

Those are the shiznit pads. But i'll never pay 2000 for an arcade experience. I'd rather take 6 months and build the perfect home pad, taking my time on every corner, meauring. Then add some blue and pink cathodes to light it up everytime u step.

But still that thing is really sexy.

You got to admit it, that pad is sexy as hell. Too bad none of us ever tried one, probably never will. E2.gif To compare the Konami metal pad against a Cobult Flux........Cobalt Flux, eat your heart out. That Konami pad just puts every other metal pad to shame. Maybe I could like bargain and buy one from one of the lucky Japanese citizens who actually acquired one. I'll pay him 5 thousand dollars for the pad!!!! Any lucky person in Japan hear this!!!?

It does feel like a solo pad though, according to bemanistyle.
