well...I finally got a new pair of shoes, I now wear a pair of Nike Shox Monsters, and man do they feel good, it was hard to get used to them but man they feel great, you can actually feel the litle bounce when you lean on your heels, they feel light on my feet when I play, so I'm happy with them... _________________

In the arcade I wear New Balance 1005 cross-training shoes. I have wide feet and the New Balance store is the only place where I can find wide shoes
At home I play in my socks. My feet start to hurt after playing for a few hours. Maybe i should get a metal pad so I can wear my shoes... |

I don't want to search through this whole thread for answers, so I think it's better to ask.
I'm going to buy some new shoes specifically for DDR and had a certain design in mind. I want a running shoe because the curved toe allows for better balance on the balls of my feet, which would be great for quick movements on songs like The legend of MAX. It would also be nice to have plastic somewhere on the bottom so I can get a audible tap with each step. Normally I have to stomp to hear anything.
Does anybody have a shoe like this that could tell me if it's a good design for playing? |

i normally play in a pair of Nike sandals, but they don't have much arch support, and my feet start to really hurt after 2-3 rounds (they are light though... ).
i got a pair of Turntec shoes about a month ago that are a little lighter than my sandals. i haven't been able to test them in the arcades yet, but i have tried them on my soft pad, and they seem OK, but there is a pretty big difference between a hard and a soft pad. _________________

I find that i play best in my Marching Band Shoes. (yes....my marching shoes). beacuse they feel good and the have good traction because they are made for marching(not falling down).Plus! only 30$!!! best shoes i own. of course - they look plain black and they look like old man shoes. Still - best shoes ever _________________

At home, I've tried socks, sneakers, bare feet, but I've found, the best is actually figure skating tights. I warm-up for practice on DDR in the morning, so it was actually kind of accidental that I discovered it. They're kind of foamy, so it's not a stressful on your feet, they're not overly-slippery like socks (I've found that, wearing socks, the pad slips out from uner me more often), and they slide better than sneakers (which, of course, I probably shouldn't be wearing on the pad anyway....) |

At first I used cheap shoes from WalMart so I could feel the arrows on my new metal pad. When my feet had taken too much abuse and pain, I switched to my NewBalance running shoes (big improvement). I highly recommend NewBalance for DDR. |

Hi,
I play with Vans. The soles are flat, and I play flat footed, so it helps a lot. But, that's my personal preference.

Well...... Normally I wear tennis shoes, but last time I went to the arcade I had HEELS! DO NOT play in heels! They are so heavy! I had to kick them off in the middle of a song! Just a lesson... (I didn't know we were going to play DDR... We had just come from a movie...) _________________
