Anyone here think that DDR (Max2 USA)should have won? Like com'on Tony Hawk. He never had anything to do with the soundtrack. Now DDR IS a soundtrack. DDR got ripped off. I think it may not be MTV stuff just yet. What do you think?

Maybe DDR Extreme's soundtrack will be on there next year.

Cheers!

It's clearly not as mainstream as Tony Hawk Underground...so there wouldn't be as many votes for it...for one thing.
Another thing is that the music itself isn't mainstream, either. The lack in accessibility will lack in popularity, no?

I dunno if it should have won, but it definately should have been nominated, MAX2, or MAX.

All I know is, THUG shouldn't have won. Need For Speed Underground's soundtrack is awesome.

...and for the record, it's VMA.

It's MTV. They go with whatever will benifit them in the long run.

And Tony Hawk has made apperances on Jackass and Viva La Bam, so *shrugs* go figure. You haven't seen DDR on there.

Now this is the one they should have won:

BEST USE OF MUSIC IN A COMPUTER GAME - Dancestar 2004

Nominees:
Amplitude (Harmonix)
DDR Max 2 - Dance Dance Revolution (Konami)
Grand Theft Auto Double Pack (Rockstar Games)
Need For Speed Underground 4 (EA Games)
SSX3 (EA Games)

Yeah watching that I thought to myself "Shouldn't games that are MUSIC games be nominated for best soundtrack?" Why nominate games that only use music as background music? Oh that's right... it's because they're accepted in the mainstream. I just hate MTV even more now. E1.gif

I don't know what you guys are complaining for. It's MTV. Think about it for a second. Everything on MTV is trendy mainstream shiet anyways. Yea DDR is popular, but it's by far not mainstream. If I would have saw DDR on MTV, I would kiss DDR goodbye.

Besides, Did any of the US DDR's have a soundtrack? I don't recall they did, maybe that's why they didn't win. I dunno I didn't see the VMA kuz it's all mainstream crap anyways. I hate MTV...

Man, I'm just as anti-MTV as the next person, but I'm not going to hate something based on the sole reason that MTV shows it. You're just as bad as the fanboys and fangirls that flock to the next boyband that gets massive airtime on TRL.

At my local mall on Wednesday (9/8/04) the Got Milk? group is having a contest involving DDR (on Cobalt Flux pads E4.gif ) and you can win a chance to be on MTV. I'm gonna go tear it up. And P.S., I don't like MTV, but I love Jackass... and Tony Hawk games.

No no no, that came out wrong. When I said that, I meant like it would go to the dogs, get what I'm saying? It would become nothing more than a trend, and we all know how long trends last, right?

I'd still play, even though I really haven't been playing much. Like maybe once every other month, or when tourney time comes around.

You really want J-Pop to win over good punk (i.e. Not Simple Plan or Good Charlotte) music?

Yes, but even know punk music at times owns j-pop, j-pop is more of a gaming thing. (Loves my terrable FS to Love Love Sugar, best. Jpop. Song. Evar).

Like some other people have said already, come on, this is MTV. MTV barely even shows music videos anymore, and when they do, it's all pop crap on TRL that they show for all of about 15 seconds between 5 minute segments of dumb interviews and the audience screaming like morons. Besides, look at the rest of the awards. Most deserving bands and artists don't even get nominated in the other music categoies as well. Do you honestly think MTV would bother with DDR when most of MTV's core audience probably considers DDR "gay?"

That having been said, I do like the Tony Hawk's Underground soundtrack. Any video game soundtrack with hip hop group Jurassic 5 in it = winner. I didn't like it as much as the Tony Hawk 4 soundtrack, but it was good anyway.

Are you people nuts? Most of the music in DDR is terrible. If they were to spend some cash on good licensed songs without remixing them to crap (they did this to "Let's Groove Tonight," and "Long Train Runnin') then not only would DDR get more public appeal, but the game would no longer be completely lacking in soul.

No no no no...you forgot about the best ROCK SONG EVER! goog.gif

(Don't mind the sarcasm there)

I agree...most of the DDR music is better listened to in the game...when you're playing. There's honestly only a few song's from DDR I'd consider blasting in my car...

And I'm glad to say "Tears" is one of them!

"Crash!" That woulda boosted the soundtracks credibility ... oops. It wasn't Extreme.

Oops Crash! sucks...my fault.

No Crash = No winner E1.gif
