are mods allowed to tap into people's private messages and tell other people (esp. non-moderators/non-admin) the contents of said messages? i know it's possible, but is it allowed or condoned on this site?

thanks much.

No.

First off, to make it possible we'd have to install something, and we have not.

Second off, why would we do that? To see all the sad little boys hit on every girl they see playing DDR? No thanks.

And if you think we'd tap in to people's private messages to see what they have to say about us...well most people say that directly to us (or make a thread about it instead of simply PMing the mod).

well, you can, just execute a simple sql query. you don't have to install anything.

the reason i ask is vxjasonxv took a pm between firebunny and cyd (in the southwest forums) and sent it to a friend of mine (hezkezl) to prove a point...

No, this type of thing is not allowed. I am surprised this happened, and I am sorry that vxjasonxv was executing SQL statements like that. We try to respect people's privacy around here. I assure you it will not happen again. Thanks for bringing this up to my attention.

No reason to keep this open. If you have further concerns about this, contact me about it, and I will deal with it more.

That's entirely not the point.
