Yes u do. u have to open it to get to the cd tray cover. then take those lttle screws around it off. then once u do that, take that white thingy and put it on ur fliptop cover.

Btw, anyone knows where to buy ribbons for the ps2?

Psh mod-chip.com sells them for 10dollars each. so i dont want to waste 20 dollars for um... 7pin and 5pin.

I accidently torn them when i got done installing the modchip. Hehe silly me...

Also, im lookin for the one that works with model 50001 v9/10!
i have v9 though.

I sort of Have a Question that ties into a flip top question.

The flip top will aloow me to play ALL imports right? Including those from the UK?

Also i was looking for PAL to NTSC converters and i cam across this

http://store.unet.net/shop/showdetl.cfm?DID=12&Product_ID=229

Now iw as wondering if anyone knows exactly what a vertical hold is. I think it has something to do with how old tvs let you adjust the vertical and Horizontal holds. but Seeing as how my tv is only like 3 or 4 years old I don't have to do that. So will this work for me??

EDIT: Nevermind, All my questions got answered.

SM3 can force the PAL video into NTSC, but the video is then completely offsync with the audio in the Dancing Stage games. Is there any type of software workaround to this?

A converter should fix the problem (check the link from the post i made before).

Vertical hold is what makes your tv start "jumping" and you have to turn the knobs and stuff to make it stop. it happens a lot on older tvs but newer ones shouldn't have that problem.

mmm ok thanks. I have made an ISO *bin/cue* of DDR max JP but whenever I burn it, either the cd burning program won't let me burn it, or the ps2 SM3 wont play it! Can somebody who's made a backup/copy of DDR MAX jp tell me what program and settinngs you used to burn it?

Seeing as I can't find anybody who's good at soldering things, I think I'm going to go with a flip top. I ahve a few questions though.

http://www.ps2cover.com/v9ps2coverblackcombosm3.html

It says:
"Includes built-in PAL/NTSC region selector "

Does this mean that I'm selecting which type of console I'm using, or what region the game is from? Because I'm using an NTSC TV/Console and would like to get Dancing Stage Fusion. If this solves the problem without me having to get a PAL-NTSC converter I'd rather just get the newet PS2 model and thist fliptop. Otherwise I'll go for:
http://www.ps2cover.com/ps2coverbluecombo.html
because I can get a used PS2 (likely the old model) cheaper.

Also, has anybody found out if it can play original Import PS1 games?

Also, somebody said that you don't need the gameshark like the website says to play PS1 games. Does that mean that 800mb CDRs will work too?

I think the slide card can be used more than once, but from what I've read here it's damaging to your Playstation. A fliptop mod works in a similar way without damaging your playstation (as far as I know). Anyhow, all the methods (slidecard, fliptop, modchip) can be used more than once.
