I was dispacable. Looking back, I would laugh at myself playing as I did when I began. _________________

First time I played (June 2000), I failed "Let Them Move" on Light/Basic.
Tragic, I know.... *heh* _________________

okay, when i first started out, i got soooo pissed off cuz i couldn't pass Dark Black Forest on light. my now ex boyfriend (boyfriend at the time) refused to let me play beginner mode, as i now do with almost everyone that starts out. i had trouble passing Ordinary World and when i finally did, i got a D and thought i was the greatest thing on earth. then i went to the mall's arcade and watched my boyfriend play on standard and a lotta people play on heavy... talk about embarassment. i had just got done bragging... i'm on standard/heavy now _________________

as most of you probably did (I hope..) I thought the game would be cake. boy was I wrong I was on begginer for about a week or 2 and was always thinking my friend that did light was GOD :| basically, I would always do D2R, Let's Groove, Twilight Zone, and Days go By and passing with a C on beg or a D on light well I can kick my friend's arse now but he's just starting to get into heavy, I better look out! _________________

My first song was on Light, it was at a birthday party at a lazertag arena and they had one there. I had no idea what it was, or that it was such this big thing, or what it would turn me into .
I started playing it at arcades whenever I could, which equaled out to about once a month no driving license sucks so bad.... Anyways, for about that whole time I would do ok on Standard, C's and such, but almost as soon as I got it at home I could A 7-footers, 8s and 9s came shortly thereafter.
I'd say my learning curve was pretty steep, but I can't get any farther now. My stamina has reached it's limit at tough 9-footers. *pants* Maxx Unlimited, you evil bitch, you're so elusive... _________________

I had to see what all the hype was about, so I decided to try Pump It Up. It was absolutely horrible. The easiest song on there, and I didn't even pass it. It was worse having people laugh at my failure. I thought I couldn't stand on the panels when there was no arrow present, so like most beginners, I kept stepping back to the middle.
I don't know what made me decide to try it again, but I did. Suddenly the game made more sense and I became much better over time before beginning DDR. |

I was SO bad when I first started. I kept seeing DDR at different places and didn't know what it was. Then my friend got it for ps2 and I played it at her house. She and my other friend were on Standard at that time, so they put me on light. I failed time and time again. The next time I went over there I passed every song(on light). I thought my 2 friends were so awesome 'cause they were playing Standard songs. Well now I am passing Heavy songs, not many... but still. I will get there. Oh, now my friends are passing 9 & 10 footers on heavy. ::sigh:: Will I ever catch up? _________________

I started on a 4th Mix machine (it was scary). So I started on Basic/Light. . . the good old days.
I later bought DDR Konamix, than Max2, than Max. Never actually started on beginner.

I've only played it 3 times, and right now I'm on 4 foot songs. When I first played, I got Ds on 1 foot songs. My friend teaching me, who dances heavy, decided I was doing bad because the songs were too easy, so I moved up to 2 and 3 foot songs and got mostly Cs and Bs on those. He always tells me to do songs harder than my level, and, well, I'm not that bad for a beginner... |

AHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I WAS PLAYING HEAVY ON MY SECOND DAY!!!
NOT!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn't pass silent hill on beginner without getting a D, and by my classifications, that's the slowest and easiest song in DDR. I was constantly frustrated and I almost gave up, but what really kept me encouraged was the way my friend danced, and I wanted to look like him so much that I continued until I actually looked good playing it. I now am officially addicted to it.
So moral of the story is, don't give up no matter how much you fail, because you WILL suceed! _________________

I actually did pretty well my first day. What finally got me to try DDR despite it's unrecognizable music, and it's whopping $1 price per play was a time I was browsing a video game store and they had a Playstation kiosk with DDR and a Dual Shock controller. I played one song and I loved the concept so much that I eventually played it at the arcade. Having played it on a game pad earlier I did pretty well for a first time. However I can't remember # of perfects or grade to this day. However I was very slow to advance beyond my good starting point. |

When I first started, I was playing on 3rd Mix. I'd pick soft mode to make things a bit easier. Then I'd play a 1-foot. I'd pass with a C or so. Then I'd play the other 1-foot. I'd pass again with a C or so. Then I'd play a 2.
FAIL!
Repeat this process about... eh... a dozen times or more. Then I passed a 2! I was so stoked!
Nowadays, I can FC some 10s and onis and stuff, but I still remember being totally unable to pass 2s when I started, and I respect that.
There was one time I showed someone how to play. When they first tried they didn't know how to read how difficult a song was, so they accidentally picked a four and failed. I showed them what they did wrong, and they picked a 1, and they FC'd it. I was amazed, despite the fact that I'm so much better now, because I can remember how I was when I started.
So, uh, the lesson here is... don't make fun of people because they're not very good. They'll get better, just like you did. Yeah. _________________
