an upgraded machine can be upgraded again.
3rd mix to 4th mix would be cheapest, even at that, it would be easiest to go directly to 4+. _________________

another question for curiosity
- say if you upgrade 7th mix to 8th and one day you downgrade it back to 7th, will the data for 8th mix be erased? |

Yes. All data like Player's Best, high scores, append codes used, operator settings, the mix itself, etc. will be overwritten during the installation process regardless of upgrade, downgrade, or simply reinstalling the same mix over itself. |

Well, I'm an ass. Here I've been telling people to go to this FAQ for the longest time because I was under the impression that there were arcade pad dimensions here...and there aren't! Could someone shore up this oversight, please? _________________

I'll dig it up and add it.
I do know that the arrows are around 11 inches by 11 inches, with the metal squares covering all the blank sections being the same distance.
There's about a quarter inch of metal going to the edges of the pads, and around three inches leading back to where the bars are.
There's also the angle taken off (it's around 45 degrees) at the back left corner for first player side, reverse for second player.
I'll take exacts tonight when I go to an arcade with a bowling alley, then make some updates.
Quick question for people: Shoud I do some further revisions and refining on this and submit it for the main page? _________________

If you're talking about the Contributor System, then I highly encourage it. _________________

The arrows in my local arcade are sticking(the lights are staying solid even after we lift our legs off of it). We cleaned it out but nothing changed. I read the faq on page 1 and juss wanted to know if there would be any other suggestions for these "sticking" awwors. |

(Lisp typing!)
The metal brackets between the black strip and the arrow might be loose. _________________

Fil419, if you press the arrow and it stays lit after letting go, does that happen on the first/seccond/third/forth/final/extra red/extra white stage screen? If it does, that is normal. _________________

| Then either the bracket (Its shaped like an L, it connects to the side wall next to the lights) is loose or missing. If not, you might have a dead sensor. _________________

Possibly too tight. It could be too tight too. _________________

Hi,
does anyone know how to fix a DDR Extreme machine? The one @ Cal Skate Chico has had some problems. The CD-Rom just got fixed, but then came up a Flash Rom Error after installing the the new CD-Rom. I'm curious because I do not believe the guys that work on the machine really know what they are doing, and have little concern over the machine.
The other question I have is, is there a picture of the buttons inside the machine? I can't tell what is the service button, and such inside, and again the guys that come out have no clue what they are used for. It's more of push and try method for them .
any help or redirection would be appreciated. Thanks

I got a good chuckle out of your first sentence, thanks.
As for your flash rom error, I'm drawing a bit of a blank right now, but make sure your security cartridge and IC chips on the board are down tight. That's usually a good starting point for any board or security cartridge problems you'll run into with a ddr machine.
DDR ma.. hell all the modified system 573 bemani boards...are a pain in the buttocks when it comes to replacing or repairing the CD-ROM. If you don't use a specific type of drive, you'll get a bunch of different errors. sfetaz has had luck with a certian brand, though the brand escapes me right now.
As for your coin door controls, the you'll run into two different organizations. One has a bunch of nobs (remote pot, controls things like the geometry and brightness of the screen) and two vertical buttons. One of these is usually labled S-Credit (credit being in Japanese or Korean) so the other button is test. There's also an on/off switch in there.
The other version of the machine has the two buttons side-by-side, but none of the pot knobs for screen controls. In this version, they're labled the same.
Trial and error with the buttons will work, the worst that's gonna happen is that they credit the machine.
It's either in the FAQ poper or someone posted a link to a picture of the first one. _________________

I've posted these in several threads in response to various questions...here they are again for your convenience.
This is the layout on Japanese machines.
In the middle, the top red button is to access the operator menu. The middle button is the service credit button. The bottom button will degauss the monitor.
This is the layout on Korean machines.
The white button is the service credit button. The red button will access the operator menu. |
