I built this pad after wearing out the other two 'single player' pads I had built before. This time I added the diagonal buttons (up left and up right) which double as start and select in DWI so I don't have to use the keyboard to start the game and choose songs. I just wear socks when playing, so the wood doesn't get marked up. I might put lexan covers on the buttons with the correct graphics for fun some time, but for now, the wood is fine with me. The controller is a Logitech dual action USB gamepad. There is a USB B style socket built into the front edge of the pad; the Logitech is nice because it is automatically detected by Win95 and above with no drivers needed. I used a Gravis Gamepad for the previous versions and it was not so nice. The button corners are rounded off because it keeps the top layer of wood in one solid piece which I have found to be the best for rigidity purposes. I know the diagonal buttons are not the right size, again for the ridigity purposes, and I have no trouble hitting them. The contacts are pieces of aluminum and the 'springs' are pieces of self adhesive weatherstripping. I used it in the previous versions and it outlasted my other poor contact design. Anyway, comments are welcome and if you want 3d CAD drawings, I will send you them in any format you want, just ask!

Whoops, I didn't think it would fit there, thanks!

Can a moderator move the topic, or should I repost over in Console Discussion?

Repost.

And unless it's in the Imaging Forum (and this thread wouldn't belong there) please just post links to the pics. Don't put pictures that size inline. Thanks.
