I haven't had any problems with it yet, and I've been doing constant 9's and 10's... and the top of the pad has a grippy texture to it, the last I had was smooth, but other than that who knows.
I mean... a $20 pad is a $20 pad either way right? they're probably all about the same... just mod it up and it'll work, especially if it's just gonna be your 'occassional' doubles pad
if I can do max 300 on it repeatedly, I'm sure it can handle a little occassional doubles play!
god bless gamestop! |

I've got my pad duct taped to a ridiculously oversized piece of plywood (Looks gay, but works). Unfortunately teh left arrow is a lazy piece of crap and only registers half the steps it should. So now I guess I'm headed to gamestop for a new pad(s) _________________

I've been playing in the arcade for years, and being able to have DDR at home is great. But, I have a major issue with doing doubles at home.
The pads slide apart really quickly. Only a few seconds on maniac and one pad is a foot away.
I can't do pad modding, beacuse I live in a VERY cramped space, and having soft pads means I can fold them up and shove 'em in a closet.
But, Is there anything I can do about pad slidage' during doubles?
Our house is carpeted, BTW. |

I haven't actually tried it, but I've thought about trying to use Velcro before. A couple of strips on the front part of a the pads, a couple of strips in the back, with the softer part stuck to the pads. If you aren't playing doubles, you should damage the floor if it were wood (even though in your case it isn't), and if you are playing doubles, use the hook part of the Velcro to stick the two together. I wouldn't want to put any under the arrows themselves, since it would change the feel of the pad, but it might be something to try, at least. |

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!! I bought a BNS DX Pad 3 days ago and it's already screwed up. When I'm just standing in the middle it lights up and thinks i'm pressing a button. While i'm selecting a song it will randomly quite because it thinks i'm holding a button when i'm just standing in the middle. Anyway I can fix this? |

slidage on a soft mat can be easily prevented by taking one of those plastic door matt things and putting it under it .... or at hardware stores and stuff you can get thes pies of foam that grip to the floor and grip to watever is on top of them .... i used to use those and it worked wonders .... _________________

Have the arrow inserts slid around like mine? There are hard rubber inserts under each arrow. Feel around and see if the inserts have shifted into the middle. The pad should only have hard rubber in the colored areas of the arrows. If there is rubber inside the black circle, your inserts have shifted. When they shift they will hold down buttons even when you stand in the middle because the top layer puts pressure on the insert which puts pressure on the arrow contacts.
Someone should update the 1st page to say that BNS pads have this problem. I would never have bought mine if I'd known. If you just bought it 3 days ago you should probably return it. |

I'd call BNS about the problem and ask for a replacement top pad. The internal circuitry is getting crossed somehow near the middle, making it activate a button. You can fix it, but its a feat to do (you have to cut open your pad). So you best bet is to use the warranty on your pad and get a replacement. |

heh I probably should've asked you guys first before I bought them, but hell, it doesn't matter, I'm just glad I'm off my old pads. (they were the VERY cheap kind, I paid 11 bucks for two of them) I bought two "Ignition Version 2.5" pads for 50 bucks (Actually they were 24.99 but you know how the shipping kills ya on Ebay)
Here is the actually auction thingy

Any suggestions on how to really extend the life of these things? I don't think I'll be able to do the chair mat mod due to money :-( but any advice would be appreciated. _________________

Even though every company should be decent and include a non-slip foam on every pad, they don't. So no, not all pads have non-slip covering. It only has it if it the seller states that it does. _________________

I just got my Red Octane Ignition 2.0 and I don't like it, no sirree, not at all. It's not nearly as sensitive as my much maligned Mad Catz with it's rug backing and little loops to tie it in place.
When I tapped the right arrow to choose my song like I normally would on my old pad, nothing happened. Nada. Zilch. I had to lean on that arrow. Is this lack of sensitivity just something you have to trade off for the raised arrows?
I suppose it's something you just get used to but in the reviews I've read most people just hopped on and loved them (and got A's and AA's on the first try). I, however, am getting B's on 1 and 2 footers! Is my pad malfunctioning? Or is it supposed to be like this? |

I am in somewhat agreement with the user above me. I just got a RO 2.0. I have a modded thin pad, but I wanted something decent for the Xbox as well, and didn't feel like making a project out of it.
I just returned my first one. After 4 hours of play the top button go all wonky and would respond half the time, the left arrow actually began triggering both up and left fairly reliably though. But it's not suppose to do that.
The next one I have had for 20 minutes, and that is why I am posting. It's uber sensitive. I can stand dead center on it with my left foot and the thing goes nuts. I think both of them must have issues with the sensors. Can anyone recommend a fix? I don't feel like spending more money or fighting to get my money back on this one.
for it's faults, at least the new one seems to work. I will know in four hours though. _________________

Okay, as two new owners, maybe we can help each other out. I can stand dead center in mine with no problem so, yeah, it sounds like a sensor problem. But it seems weird that it would happen to two pads in a row. Do ya' just have big feet?
So when you say your pad is sensitive, do you mean your whole pad? Or are you referring just to the dead center problem? My little cheapy pad would take just a very light *tap* with my toe, and it would register. Is your new pad like that? For me, the new pad is a lot more tiring.
But I will agree it's nice to 'feel' where the arrows are. I'm just scared to mod the bottom of this pad with rug backing and craft spray because it's so new and expensive. I'm afraid I'll wreck it. With my old pad, it didn't matter because, say it with me..."it was cheap".<g> |

Shadow - Mostly is would just go nuts in the center. The main buttons seem okay. I only had time to play for about an hour last night. After a could hour though it seems to have evened out considerably. Now I can tell if it is just me shifting my weight or not in the center.
My feet aren't huge size 13's, but they aren't dainty. They are pretty fred flintstoneish. Sixe 10, but wide.
I will have more time to play tonight. Hopefully the pad will keep up. I am not really good so I still mostly do stuff on light. and usually the most challeneging I get is 4-5 foot. So I don't think I am putting too much stress on the pad. Eventually I want to get better though. Mostly I like it because it's the only exercise I get. =)
As for modding - I modded my thin pad. It is mounted to a 1 inch thick board and covered with a clear vinyl mat. It works pretty good and never slides. The octane I haven't modded at all. I play on a carpet and it slides a little bit, but it doesn't bunch at all. If the buttons continue working I won't worry about modding it unless the slight sliding becomes and issue as I get better. _________________

Glad to hear the pad evened out. I'm getting used to having to step a little harder now. It's not a problem where I'm shifting my weight, but it was a bit of a problem on the taps in front or behind me.
As for the modding, my old pad was a madcatz for xbox and it had these two cute little loops at the top. I would tie a rope around my tv stand and hook an end into each of those two loops, and when I danced, the mat would go backwards and stretch tight. It never bunched for me once. Maybe that's why I didn't have this big "woohoo" moment when I got the ignition. My old pad just wasn't all that bad. <g>
The ignition, however, doesn't have any way to tie it in place. So I need to do something. Let me know if you find a good way.
BTW, I'm at the 4-5 footers on light mode too. It's a tough leap to go from the 4 footers to the 5. I'm finding I can sight read pretty fast but I can't keep up physically. My legs turn to jelly. |

Hi I purchased 2 bns dx xtreme pads at the beginning of july. Now one of has stopped working completely and the other one's raised button inserts are sliding. Have any of you tried to exchange/ return stuff from bns after the warranty is up? I could use all the help I can get. Thanks in advance. |
