when newbs dont put their coin up do you cut them by putting your coin up then telling them to use the coin line do ytou think its fair

imo it is perfectly fair b/c ppl should know that a coin line is there for a reason to mark your spot

Okie Dokie, here is what I think. I think that if a person knows a coin line is there and ignores it, I would definetely skip their turn. If they don't know what a coin line is I would tell them, and say put your coin up there, and skip their turn. They need to learn cause if they just go on not knowing their whole life they could cut in front of the line all the time!

I only say this cause back when I didn't know what a coin line was everybody always told me to put my coin up and wait. It's fair.

If the person doesn't know the coin line, explain it to them. You're being a dick if you skip them because they didn't know anything about the coin line.

If the person does know the coin line and doesn't put their coin up, then do whatever you want. But expect them to bitch if you try to skip them.

Ha its funny that one day. this guy looked and pick up the token and ask if this token was mine and i told him yes. (Yes its really mine) and his friend told him to put it back and his friend roll his eyes and we laughed. After that, they ask me how to change the difficulty. So i told them to tap the down arrow twice but the tap it too damn slow then i said oh nvm. put a song and hold the main button to bring up the options arrow. then i have to show them how to do it and all. Im not making fun of anyone but i like helping new people get used to DDR.

OK... YEs u guys, i hate people ignoring the token. people cut in front of me and this guy says,"oh u play ddr too" i was like,"Uh yes, u seen me play every saturday nights". Not only that, they take my token so when they left i take theirs.

Also, dont u hate it when u were playing first and a group of them comes up and starts to play. then ignore the person thats not in a group?

Well thats how they skip my turn and ignore the token or thinking that i left or something.

So people should know how to use the coin line...without being told? Even though this is not a widely used convention? Sorry, but no. If someone is clearly new to the game or the arcade scene, that in no way makes you better than them, and therefore deserving of a better spot in line.

At my arcade, if you've been to the arcade before, you get cut off if you don't use the coin line. But usually someone is nice enough to tell any beginners who want to play, and let them go even if they didn't use the coin line the first time.

I have no idea why, but at my arcade there is no coin line (probably due to the fact that we use game cards and not tokens). It makes things really disorganized and alot of people argue at each other. If you think its unfair that someone cuts you because you didn't know about the coin line, trying waiting for your turn for like a half an hour only to have people keep telling they wanna play so you have to wait. It drives me frickin insane frust.gif frust.gif .

It was a day at MIT. Me and a group were playing ddr, after this guy was done this small kid comes up and put his tokens into the slot. We told everything the whole waiting and other what nots. But this kid stared at us with these cute penetrating eyes. We must have told ourselves, how could you say no to that face!!!!! E2.gif So we just told the kid that next time you should save a place at there token line, and wait like the others. E1.gif

Sometimes things could go in different directions.

pretty much everyone who plays DDR at my arcade knows how to use the coin line. if you dont reserve your spot, you dont play.

If theres an obvious line of people waiting to play, it's unfair to skip somebody for not using the coin line. It has happened to me. I was pissed off.

I think common sence should rule here. If someone doesnt know about the coin line, but they were obviously waiting to play, let them play and tell them about the coin line. If you don't you are a dick. If people are waiting let them play, imho coin lines get very disorganized fast. Sometimes there is no line, and then someone comes and starts one, that doesn't make them skip the person waiting. It's common sence. If it was that big of a deal arcades would post something about the coin line for the casual arcade player.

The only exception is when it's little annoying kids, I become an buttocks and 'cut' them or else I will never get to play as they have no concept of any form of line. This is true for bridgewater sports arena in NJ when there are masses of parentless children running around.

Well I never had this exact problem because if I see a newbie, I always teach them the coin line rule first thing. So if they don't follow it, its there problem that they got cut...I was simply doing them a favor.

im not a total dick unless the person does beginner. for some reason i cant stand watching the beginner b/g movie its so annoying

but another exception is first i cut them then i tell them about the coin line but i only cut if there are 5 or more ppl waiting to play and 95% of the time its a newb or medium expert i HATE waiting b/c chances are the newbs will pick the same song over and over again but what i do is get them to the extra stage and force them to try heavy

I agree with the beginner mode, I hate it. Plus you cant fail beginner on the first song. Some kid walked off after playing beginner halfway through the song, and it was a clear so I got 2 free songs. Actually that happened twice to me. But a players difficulty level shouldn't encourage you to cut him, unless its a little parentless kid of course. I played as a 'standard expert' for a long time, and played the same songs sometimes if I wanted to FC them.

Death to those who dont use the coin line. If you want to play, you have to learn the rules of engagement. It doesnt necessarily encourage me to cut them but it will piss me off real fast.

If it's only like a couple people playing then I probably won't skip them. But usually if it's like a whole group of people and they don't notice all the other players putting up coins then that's a different story.

I just hate when little kids who use the coin line and if it's not their turn (I mean their actual turn) soon enough for them they complain to the staff or whatever and yell at the older kids. (happened to me)

over here, most of the players use a custom card or something random that we find. Ive seen everything from a ticket, IDs, Bottle caps, CDs, even a PS2 Game. Its just what ever. Also i have a question. When its you turn up, is it better to move your marker before you play or after. Some people here get pissed at that.

At some places in gurnee illinois its coincidered to be "out of fashon" for useing the coinline, and that you should put your credits in, shadow the person next to you, then you play and they shadow you.

This person did claim they where playing since 1999, the year DDR "came out" (Load of crap, came out summer 1998).
