When I was first watching riptide's movies, I was a bit confused as to what he was doing soldering to every second screw . I thought it would be logical to solder to every one of the contacts (glued to the bottom of button), and to every screw.(I do know how riptide's way works btw) I've finished the whole dancemat except for the wiring so I was wondering what might be good/bad about this. All I can think is that it would be more sensitive due to the fact that it only has to touch one screw to trigger. Are there any negative aspects to doing it this way? All I can think of is it's harder to fix. |

Riptide use all the screws.
First even screws are for "Gamepad Button +"
and odd screws are for "Gamepad Ground (-)"
There is a sheet metal placed on the plexiglass (over the screws hold by foam) that make a contact between the odd and even screws. The new concept of riptide is to use some metal brace to remove the step of ajusting all the screw to the same level.
hope you understand more
p.s. sry for my english _________________

Yeah I know all about how it works but thanks anyway . I was just wondering, has anyone has found corner braces in Australia? I think I might have to order them from America/elsewhere |

If there was a search I would search, and I am not looking through over a hundred pages, so:
Anyone have a diagram for rigging and xbox controller?
EDIT: I found where the solder points most likely go for the arrows, but I am not sure where ground is. |

same steps, for the controller, either use a PS controller and an adapter, or use the beatpad pro (my suggestion)... link is in my sig for instructions on soldering both of those.
Edit: PS controller will not show up as a dancemat, but the beatpad will.

Those were on the previous page, not exactly what you're looking for, but the best that I can offer from anything I've seen in this forum. Sounds like you're almost better off winging it on your own though. _________________

good call grgisme, yeah, my sig has the link, in the link it suggests not using an xbox controller, because just about everything is pressure sensitive on it. _________________

Can anyone confirm that this will work before I go to work on it?
EDIT: Also, Will 3/4 inch wide weatherstripping work isntead of 1/2 for DDRhomepad's design? It is however a 1/4 an inch thick. And is there a way to add lights or buttons such as A and B? Not full buttons like the mats but perhaps just little push buttons. Just so you can press it with your foot. Since the directions call for a PS controller and say to use that if I used the one above or even the beatmania I suppose there would have to be someway to do this. So could anyone tell me how? |

LOL, my only fear is that diagrams usually tend to look more complicated than they really are. But exactly type of diagram are you looking for. We've done the soldering diagram a dozen times. What do you need a diagram of? _________________

If anything, I need an explanation of the contact system. I get the soldering points, but I don't get how to make a good contact system.
Would you please explain to me the contact system on DDRHP and Riptide's pad? I'd like to try to build a pad without electrocuting myself. _________________

I was thinking of possible alternatives to using close-cell weather stripping and heres what I've come up with.
- Dr. Scholls gel inserts (I personally am gonna try this hehe)
- Mouse pad (This is what I have in my pad right now...works great)
Ill let you guys know how the scholls inserts work (they are REALLY spongy heh. _________________

I've looked everywhere for brackets in australia and as far as i know, you cant get em. I ended up geting mine made. But that can be expensive. If you do find some, let me know.

Consider using springs, not many people are using them but i have found them to work really well.
PeaceOut
