Has anyone else found uses for DDR products other than for DDR?

You wont belive how good of an insulater a soft pad is, ive used them quite a few times as blankets during winter when I crashed at my friends' houses

I used to have this old NES game with a soft pad that had like 16 points on it. It was a "running" simulator that was incredibly boring, and apparently there were also some dancing games for it. If they were similar to DDR, I dunno. I should look into it, though. I still have the pad.

I heard (though i never tried) that you can use ddr pads for any PS1 or PS2 game as long as it doesnt need the analog(I am also unsure cause my metal pads do not have Square and triangle buttons)... Im not sure if this works but give it a try =P

and it used to crack me the hell up... laugh.gif

until i started doing it too... no joke.

though my excuse is that I spend alot of time driving around, and I mean, well, just in case, right? biggrin.gif

Pwnd- You can indeed use a DDR pad for any PS1 or PS2 game so long as it doesn't require analog control. Your control options can be limited, though. Along with your metal pad, many pads don't have Square and Triangle buttons on them. Or R1, L1, R2, and R2. Some 3rd party ones do, cramming the L and R buttons onto the top of the mat along with Select and Start. I tried playing Street Fighter Alpha 3 with my pad. Kinda hard when all you have is weak punch and weak kick!

Stadsport- I think that's the Power Pad you're talking about, not totally sure as I think there may have been more than one. I once saw someone on the internet modify one of those to make it into a DDR pad, though. o_O

I've done that too. We even got Tony Hawk Pro Skater working with it on my friends PSX. That was really hard....

I tried that with THPS3 but the camera keep screwing up and making it impossible to play. It would probably be fun to play Tetris with a DDR mat though. Its controls are simple enough to have a really good time with it.

Stadsport: you sound like you think youre the only one who ever had, or heard of the old NES Track & Field, and the "Power Pad". That's some serious old skool junk. Haha I was so fat back then I couldn't beat anyone except Turtle. Makes me want to break it out now and beat the crap out of Cheetah.

Dang, other ppl keep a pad in their trunks too, "just in case". lol I always wonder if I'm going to end up at a party or something and need to bust out some DDR and recruit new addicts. One of those console-less pads with the songs built-in would be ideal for that, except they suck a$$ and newbies would get a bastardized version of the DDR experience.

Anyway, I tried using my pad for Space Channel 5, which you'd think would be perfect since it's a music-based game that uses the 4 directions, X and O. But it's not. Since you're not allowed to touch any direction unless it's time to hit it, you cant leave your feet on arrows, and you look like a pogo stick. It's just plain not fun.

Tekked: Tetris sounds like a fun idea.

Incredibly boring my buttocks. World Class Track and Field was the shiznit! God that game is fun.

I tried to play T.H.U.G. on a pad... but since it has no joystick, I had a bird's eye camera view.

Played Legend of Dragoon, FFVII, and I used it for my PS2 DVD player.

That's it.

HI... I'M NEEMO.

I will like to point out that the reason this post got no more replies is because once the people who would reply got here... they were distracted and clicked on the site on the profile above me.

Well, I never used it for anything else but i DID hear these stories

1. My cousin used it as a blanket like others.

2. Some guys used some metal pads, stacked on top of eachother to give a speech for a club president. (maybe a ddr club I dunno)

3. Someone tried to use it as a card table.

4. Pump it up E4.gif

5. With two soft pads, one person used them as bulletin boards. (those horrible 10/20 dollar ones)

Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2,

Some people also play that using a ddr pad, they tried, it didn't work though....wouldve been interesting...

as for the game boxes, I also use them as coasters, once a while...

The DDR pad serves as a good mattress. Sometimes after I play I'm so tired I just take a nap right on the pad.

I once used my Max2 disc as a mirror because I couldn't find one.

I've tried Final Fantasy 8 and EA Sports Hockey with the pad. That was an interesting experience...I got killed in hockey by my brother who was playing controller.
