it could be wrong if the guy is really trying to pass the song and you just go up there and kill the song just to show him that you're better than him is wrong. but if the guy thinks he's the shiznite and saying he's better than everyone there when he's doing something like spin the disk standard u can't help but show him up. |

I don't play the exact song after someone fails it, Unless it's a song I REALLY wanted to play and they happened to use it as their last/failing song.
However, if it's PS/PSM/PSMO or anything MAX. I'll usually do that song, especially LOM. _________________

If someone failed a song I wouldn't make it my first song to play or anything... maybe second or something if I really wanted to play it. |

I've had that happen to me, before, though. I was playing Tsugaru (I would play it as my third song of every game and fail, because I was determined to pass it - I finally did, about a month ago, but that's beside the point), and, predictably, failed.
Then the person who had their token on the token line got up and looked at me, kind of smirking, and picked Tsugaru and AAed it. They gave me this incredibly smug look and then played a lot of much harder songs. It really made me angry, because in that case, they *were* trying to show me up.
I know they paid for that game, and I know they're perfectly entitled to play whatever they want, but the attitude was totally unnecessary.
But like I said - it's all about why you do it. If it's just because you planned to play that song anyway, then it's not rude at all, just coincidence. |
yeah i agree with him its disrespectful to show off to the person who had just failed the song its kind of a double standard if you think about it i myself dont theink its nice one person did that to me and i had to keep myslf from wanting to break his face (i have anger management problems ) _________________

Sometimes someone will play a song and it makes me really want to play it. Most of the time though, if I'm about to do that, I at least wait until the second song. And if the person is there watching, I'll ask the if it's okay. |

I usually wouldn't spank a n00b and rub their face in it, but there is one thing that I believe should set off any pro DDR player. SHADOW DANCING!! This guy(obviously a HUGE n00b) came up to me while I was scrolling through songs and when I had stopped on Tsugaru he said that was really tough. Well, I put it on heavy and began. He stood on the other pad and tried to do it for like a fourth of the song and finally gave up. Luckilly I was nice enough not to rub it in his face, but he decided to take the smart route out the door so I didn't work myself up to it.
I DONT LIKE SHADOW DANCERS!!!! _________________

i kinda did sumthing like that but it wasnt exactly showing them up. im pretty new to DDR so i dont know lots of songs i can do. the guy before started playing Healing Vision Angelic Mix and it looked cool but he failed. i went up and played a song then played HV only to fail way before he did. i was embarrassed but was able to laugh about it. i dont think the other guy liked me much and though i was some stupid noob that failed to show him up though. oh well |

Nothing wrong with playing a song someone failed in the game before if you really want to....but sometimes it's hard to tell if the person is trying to show you up or not. If there's a song i REALLY want to play and the person before me made a bad job of it i'll at least not play it 1st song and maybe not at all if it's not one of my favs/depending on the person, because i feel really guilty about making others feel down.
I had a couple of people do that to me before... i don't really try to remember all the bad times :/ These days i've gotten better so it doesn't happen as often ^^ sometimes in reverse. There's this one guy who has some sort of problem with me and insists on competiting with my song scores :/ he plays on 1.5x, me on 1x normally. But if i'm having a bad day or just in the mood for better PA or something i will use 1.5x. So one day i'm just mucking around for a song set mainly on 1.5x and i get 12 greats on Sexy Planet Oni. I was like 'OMG i almost SDG'd it, thats my best score on it'. So next game this guy chooses Sexy Planet Oni no doubt He ends up not even getting an AA because he gave up halfway thru the song after getting about 20 greats in the first half :/ If that wasn't enough i was close to passing LoM at the time and so had been practicing it that day, so last stage he also chooses LoM and gets about as far i did the time he saw me play (but minus bar, i'm not physically capable of holding my stamina that long so i have to use it for harder 10s ). Blah, since then i have passed MaxX and LoM and he has passed neither...
Still sometimes it's depressing when people are trying to show you up and not suceeding especially when they do it consistently..... _________________

The only time I'll play a song after someone else failed it or whatever is when I hear it, usually they're on standard, and I want to hear it again and try the steps on heavy....some guy, musta been 34, picked cartoon heros, and I've barely heard this song before, so he fails, I go up, and get a B on heavy, he was on standard, so he gets all pissed off and says I was trying to be better than him....this is besides the point, but if I'm 20 years younger than you, and I school you in DDR, I'm at least a little bit better right? I don't think I needed to "try" to be better than him. There is no try, there is only do, or do not...but yeah, people have intentionally shown me up like that a few times, back in my Light Mode days.... |

Every time i see someone that fails a song or does bad at it; i never do that song when its my turn. So i don't show them up; but i guess it doesn't matter b/c i AA or AAA everysong i play after their game anyway. |
