Yes, I'm the self-proclaimed whiz of the BNS adapter, so if you need any help settin' it up, I can point you in the right direction
On another note, one of my CFs finally shipped (...I guess they're sending the pair seperately)! One's scheduled to arrive on Thursday and one on Friday. The adapter will be a little while still, but I'll be able to report on how it works with my BNS adapter before too long. _________________

okay. you may remember me from a few posts back. I got my USB thing and meh CF hooked up. But it almost seems as if the arrows are rushing the beat? Just played Afronova and it felt unnatural....any fixes? _________________

looks like you're suffering from the dreaded CF+EMS=LAG problem. the arrows aren't rushing, but your pad is slow at sending its signals. you have to edit the global gap (set it higher I believe) to fix the problem. dunno how well it works, but that's what I've read.

well then it might also be a problem with stepmania and your system. make sure you are using the newest version of stepmania. pads tend to not work well with laptops, especially if they have lights or are metal pads, so you might be SOL until you get a different pad or computer. you also need a fairly fast computer to run SM with a pad.
EDIT: and I would tend to avoid going with what other people say unless many people confirm. there are whole threads in other forums where people talk about how their EMS adapter lags. that guy might have gotten lucky, or just might not notice it (no offense to him). if there are enough people saying it works, I will update the FAQ, but until then don't rely completely on other posts until it is confirmed by more than one person.

Woo! Just got one of my CFs!
It works perfectly with my BNS parallel port adapter. There might be a delay, but if there is it's very small, and it's mostly likely that it's me not used to playing on such a pad (with shoes too). _________________

Well i got a Labtop, and i jus got my adaptor today in the mail (My Adaptor) and downloaded NTPad Drivers for XP and plugged it in and it works to perfection. The Timing is prob like 1/100th of a second off, but other than that it works great. I would really recomend the adaptor above and NTPad drivers for any XP user with a fast comp., its very inexpensive and only takes about 10 mins. to install and config. the drivers.
Side Note: Is there a way to change the Gap timing in SM?, cause i know theres one in DWI, but i cant find it in SM.
Oh and i don't know if it's me or what, but the link to the adaptor isn't working for me, i think BuyNShop's website is down atm, but click and see if it works for u and tell me f its just me |

you go into the stepmania.ini file and adjust the gap manually. I've never had a need to do it, but that's what I've read you should do if your pad is lagging. |

Ok I REALLY need hlpe here! I just got my RedOctane Ignition 2.0 pad and I tried connecting it to my comp via the xbox port on it. And yes I haev the USB cab;e to plug it in and it works fine with the xbox pad I have, but the ignition pad won't work for some reason. Does anyone know if I need another driver for it or something? If you know how to make it work please tell me! _________________

It's just a guess, but you probably need different drivers since the XBox pads use the buttons of an XBox controller, whereas the Ignition is basically a PS2 controller. _________________

I know you probably got this a lot already... but I'm going to ask anyway.
First off, I have the SuperJoyBox adapter. It's the exact one that on the first page of this thread says "and we have a winnar!!!!
this is the true super dual joy box. this one works with the code as stated above. not tested with mac OSX. would assume that it would work though because it is basically the same device as the smart joy plus, which is compatible with macs. " yeah.... When I play stepmania, for example, when I have my left food on the left arrow, and i hit the right arrow with my right foot, it doesn't register. It goes reversed and the same for the up/down arrows.
I tried to fix this using the hold up-start-select thing. When do i use this code? While playing stepmania.. or just whenever? I tried both, and nothing changed.
Is there a way I can fix this in any of the options in "gaming options" in the control panel?
Thanks for the help |

Make sure you hold it for about 3 seconds, or try putting it in again (if by some chance you only tried it once before goin' off to ddrfreak.com). The problem is definetly with the axis mapping, although I'm not entirely sure how to fix it other than using the code. Of course it could always be that you're using a Mac. _________________

Well since I am the master of the obvious I have to say it so plaease don't take offense.
Did you go into Key config or something like that and put in the sensors in the correct spot. It has been forever since I used an adaptor (since Sync moved) but I also believe that you had to turn on ignore joy axis as well but I might be waaay off track. I'm sure Sync can take care of it after the hurricane passes if you can't get it before that. _________________

I can confirm that the SmartJoy PLUS does NOT work with Cobalt Fluxes...or Ignitions...i.e. none of the pads you SHOULD buy. _________________

I just moved up to college and brought my DDR pad (naki w/ no led) and my EMS USB2 adapter and using it on my laptop. I plugged the device in, windows automatically installed the drivers for it and shows it being installed shown below.. When i goto control panel and try to configure or test the keys to see if i can get them to light up, there is no response no matter what keys I hit. I've tried doing the start+select+up numerous times and made sure that the adapter is on 'PC' mode.
This adapter and ddr pad worked great on my desktop computer at home when I used stepmania. |
