you know Grim...that has never happened to me, the worst that has happened to me was that I was playing and I AA'ed Kind Lady, I was getting ready to pick my extra stage song, and this kid was like..."play Little doggy" (the song) I turned around and I said to him, "wait...I can't play that song cuz' you're not playing right now" the funny thing was that I said that in front of a very small huddled crowd of people, after that when I was playing my extra stage (which was Sync) he was just cursing at me while I was playing, but he left partway through the song, I though that it was hilarious because when I finished he wasn't there anymore... _________________

A lot of little kids (by little I mean <6) like to jump around either behind my pad or on the second play pad. Normally they'll move if you ask nicely and explain doubles mode to them
I've never actually had anyone mess with the song selection buttons though |

I don't have any problems with the people that I'm playing with. And what do you guys mean by little kids? Just wondering 'cause I'm only 13.
I am sometimes annoying (well, most of the time), but not on DDR.
I guess it just kinda depends on certain types of people, and also based on luck. And what I'm talking about has nothing to do with this forum. SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS MEAN BY LITTLE KIDS?!?!?!?!? _________________

Exactly... rude and obnoxious players come in all ages... and I've seen a "little kid" (9 years old) AA'ing catas, so I don't see why we need a separate thread like this one. |

Asking little children to move doesn't go over so well.
I was at home showing our neighbors how to play DDR, and the munchkin children wanted to play. So I let them play a couple songs, and then they went to go get drinks, and I decided to play some random song on heavy. About halfway through, their little 3 year old girl came back down, saw me playing, and had a hissy fit. She was screaming "MY PAD!!!!!" while latching onto my leg (I was on a freeze arrow.) I tried asking her to get off so I wouldn't hurt her, which didn't work too well. I ended up failing thanks to her. Stupid kid, I was doing well. |

She was 3, what do you expect? At least you didn't lose any money, it being a home game and all. |

My local arcade hosts parties for kids in summer camps. There are usually about 4 buses in the back parking lot. When I get in, there are about 7 little 5-year old girls all trying to play at one time. I didn't mind waiting til they were done, but it looked so ridiculous . At least they didn't stomp or anything. I just hate when there are people waiting to play and there are chilfren that are completely unaware of that and continue to shadow the demo, play Graduation beginner 4 times in a row, or try to play hopscotch on the arrow panels. That's not my main concern though. My problem is when a group of about 15 children are all huddling and surrounding the machine when you're in the middle of a game. All I ask for is a little space around me. They also like to hold on to the bar and dangle on the pad behind you. So once I start playing MAXX Unlimited and I go and reach for the bar, I end up accidentally smacking some girls hand. Forunately I arrived toward the end of the party and they all left about a half hour later. I just wish these kids were old enough to understand the words "Excuse me", or "Please get off". Even if you asked them in the most polite way possible, they'll just stand there acting as though they didn't hear a damn thing. If I didn't have to worry about getting yelled at by counselors, parents or management or get kicked out, I would want to punt them like footballs left and right .
But then again, they're children, so I'll TRY not to let it get to me.
On the other hand, I remember came back to the arcade a few days later, and this time, the summer camps kids were older. I'm talking about 8-10 years old and they're so rude and obnoxious. Like my previous story, the kids are all huddling around the DDR machine. All of them are picking the same crap over and over and over, and over again. They play Rhythm and Police on light mode. Since there a lot of jumps in the set of steps, you can expect them to stomp the living hell out of the machine. They laugh as they do it trying to act all macho and gangsta. There are no tokens on the machine, so I assume it's my turn, as I approach the machine, the same kids go on again . I let it go cuz I know that they're just going to fail again...In the meantime, I go to put my token on the machine to show I want to go next. There's this blonde, bi.tchy 10-year old girl that's standing on the side of the machine as if she's trying to guard it. She sees the token and figures that it doesn't belong to anyone, so she picks it up and put it in her little purse. Use common sense, why would someone just leave a token on the narrow ledge of the screen. Once it's my turn about 20 minutes later, I decide to start with something simple, like Freckles heavy. I got so many random misses. It's obvious that these pads were busted by these kids, because when they WERE fixed, I AAAed it. When I'm playing songs like Bag and Sakura, I hear this one smartass 10-year old saying "I can do that!"
1. He can't do it, he failed R&P on Light.
2. Even IF he could do it, nobody would care.
Everytime I finish a song, the same smartass says "You're one sick bastard."
The counselors don't even do anything, they're all probably in the little party room talking. There are also counselor assistants that are about 15-18 years old and they are just as braindead as the kids.
I just wish I can be alone when I play. People are a distraction, especially the loud obnoxious screaming ones.
I HATE PEOPLE!!! _________________

The worst that I've had with little kids is when I was playing Love <3 Shine and this one kid stood in front of me on the up arrow and I was doing the jumps and I stepped on him (hard). I had told him to get off the pad but he didn't want to. He ran off the pad after I stepped on him. I felt kind of bad for him though. He cried after I stepped on him _________________

Don't feel bad...you told him to get off. The minute the kid got on the up arrow he was askin for it. It's pure common sense: if you get in someone's way when they're playin DDR, then you going to get hurt. _________________

Experiences with annoying and obnoxious kiddies...
I can think of a couple of them... one being at the movie theatre, when this extremely hyper kid insisted to play with me. Alright, no problem... and then he insisted to pick the song and was all "WTF R U DOIN!?!?!?!" when I loaded the option screen. Told him "setting up how I wanna play" while putting the song on Heavy (song was Crash). Then, our little friend went "you think you're good, huh?", then proceeded to put it on heavy as well. 10 seconds after the song started, he got off and say "frick that poopy, you're not gonna do it!". And... I did it... Classic story.
Second one's less short of a story, it simply was some day camp kids mocking me on the other pad. Went a lil worse when I was playing double, though... inadvertedly bumped the kid off the pad (was too into the game to even notice that he got back on the pad to try his idiotic stunt again... oh well)
All of this, in less than one week. Guess those have to happen sometimes... >.> _________________
