sorry to pelt you all with questions, but I have one.
I just recieved my Cobalt Flux, and I am not able to make sense out of what you all say, but I have narrowed down to the Super Dual Box Converter from liksang. http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=23&products_id=3176&PHPSESSID=d930b1ea050305b77244bc81e6099458 That right there. Now, my CF was just ordered about 3 weeks ago, so It's probably V2, which means it would have a V2 Cbox right? Then, the lik-sang converter, if I were to buy that, I'm concerned about the Force Feedback thing. In the CF instruction book thing, it said Force Feedback = bad. How do I turn it off? Then if I have any timing issues, I change the global thing if necassary. Just confirm all this info for me. Thanks. _________________

I've heard that converter doesn't work with the Cobalt Flux. I have the v2 Flux (which is what you'll be getting) and it works perfectly with my EMS USB adapter. You can order it from levelsix at this link: http://www.levelsix.com/detail.aspx?ID=2
They ship fast too. I got my adapter two days after I ordered it, where as Lik-Sang takes about 2-3 weeks for your order to arrive. |

AWESOME! Thanks! Now, my next question. Are there instructions with it? How would you set it up? Forced Feedback is still bad, isn't it? And Stepmania just recognizes it? No setup or anything? I'm just chock-full of questions. Thanks for the link though. That is DEFINATELY the one I'll be buying. _________________

Unless you're going to be using it for PS2/computer games that actually use a force feedback feature, you shouldn't have to worry about it.
The "rumble" feature in most controllers is the colloquial term for "force feedback", fyi _________________

it wouldn't be a problem with any adapter anyway, none of them are plug-and-play with force feedback, you have to install the driver disk to get the force feedback to work. the adapters give input and already have the main input drivers installed in windows XP. the problem with adapters and CFs lies in the adapter's ability to recognize the control box and feed the CF enough power to work. EMS is known to have major voltage issues with even soft pads, so I wouldn't expect to be able to ever hook two CFs up to an EMS adapter. No one has ever tried a CF with a Super Dual Box here on these forums that I know of, so I have no clue about the compatability. as for my experience with the super dual box, it has worked with every pad, led lights or not, except for the DPR2 soft pad, and I've always been able to hook two soft pads up. they work with red octane metal pads as far as I know.
as far as CF compatability goes with any of these, personal results can vary from user to user. apparently according to stepmania.com, I have a couple of adapters that they have marked as working with the up start select code that do not work for me, even though they are the newest version of the listed model. so take everything anyone says in this thread with a grain of salt. it might be good to try a few different adapters (if you have the money for a CF, an extra 15 dollar adapter by comparison isn't too bad...). |

I know you said you know nothing about xbox>usb, but i was wondering if anyone has found something that might work or if they have any ideas that i could try out. I was also wondering if it was possible to install linux on a xbox and install stepmania and be able to use the dance pads without any of this usb stuff to deal with... |

hey, actually stepmania.com has a working adapter listed now, but you have to install 3rd party drivers. give it a shot and see if it works :0) |

I am not in a super joyous mood after using this . This adapter works fine with my Playstation 2 controller, as well as my Konami flat pad. But when I try to use my LevelSix foam pads, everything messes up. Holding down the left arrow registers as being pressed consecutively, and it's the same with the X, O, Square, and Triangle buttons (levelsix pads have six buttons). The Start and Select buttons as well as the up, right, and down arrows all work fine except when being pressed while one of the aformentioned buttons or the left arrow is being held down. I can't play anything like this. Someone plz help. |

yeah how many people put info in there? sigh...oh well.
my guess is you haven't entered the code. if you have, you haven't remapped the pad, just like everyone else who's had a problem with it. I wouldn't be surprised if you have joy axis left mapped and the buttons mapped for the other ones. Like I've mentioned before, never just plug in the adapter and expect it to work. you have to go into input options, shut off auto-map (because stepmania maps super dual box wrong) and then re-configure the pad yourself in the key config screen. this is assuming that you have put in the up start select code already. |

And for Syncognition's sake, the "code" is holding up, start, and select for three seconds.
In other news, my Smart Joy PLUS shipped pretty quick, not sure how long it'll take to actually get here though. Also, my CFs are evidently awaiting shipment, it'll probably get shipped sometime within the next couple days. _________________

It's Redoctane's adapter! Redoctane's! And that trick won't work. Didn't I say that my flat pad worked fine? It worked with my flat Konami pad, but it won't work with this one. |

that trick most certainly works with redoctane adapters, because they are exactly the same as the super dual box, which is exactly the same as the "dual USB converter" you see listed on Ebay. it's all made by mayflash, the adapters are generic as I have said many times before, so as long as it has that design, the code will work.
the problem is your pad then, or you have a faulty adapter. I'm guessing it is your pad. and please do not end every sentence with and exclaimation point and/or use such a condescending tone, as it makes it seem as though you are demanding an answer. I'm telling you what I know because I have experience with many adapters. it would also be helpful to know what version of stepmania you are using, because if you are using 3.0 you have to turn on ignore joy axis. and you never said you remapped your pad or shut off auto-mapping, which is also a big problem with SM and the dual joy box. now I will not help you further unless you begin to post in coherent sentences and put the key info in the post, not the post subject (few people put anything there if you haven't noticed). there is no urgency involved with the subject of USB adapters, please do not try to create a sense of it.
EDIT: the pad you are talking about should work fine. it may be faulty, but I have the exact same pad and it works.
if you haven't already, check the FAQ I wrote on the first page. sticky threads always have the important information on the first page just so you know. |

Ok, i just purchased this (Product) about 5 minutes ago and im just wondering which drivers i use for it, i am currently using Windows XP.
I have looked around and read many posts but i still don't know if i'm suppsed to use the Joy2Key Program or the NTPad Drivers for XP. Both will most likely work, but which is the best from personal experience. |

I believe just to be safe you should use the NTPad drivers, and if that doesn't work use them in conjunction with Joy2Key. |
