Hey, I've got to go to a tournament this Saturday, and I'm in kind of a DDR delima. I used to be able to play very smoothly on 8footer songs. I wouldn't usualy miss anything when I did a chain of 1/4steps. But for some reason right now, My legs don't wanna cooperate and my movenment is Jerky and sloppy. It was really strange because the Day before I had been playing at 100%, then the Next day I can barely play at all. And I know it's not the pad, I know for sure because my friend plays on it too and he's doing quite well.
Does anyone know how to counter this before Saturday? _________________

For both of you what my guess is that you are playing too much so just take a break. I know this cause I played everyday for a week and my ddr skills sarted goin down, but then I took a break for a few days and they came right back. |

Thanks. I'm still gonna play a bit today, but just not as much. My skills came back pretty much 100%. I think I might completely rest tommorrow. But then again Paine is coming over tomorrow. Well I think I'll play today, just barely at all. _________________

the back leg pain could be a potassium deficiency. it happened to me two years ago.
eat lots of bananas and potatoes, and keep drinking lots of water. staying off your feet wont help so stay active too.
i hope that helps |

Spinach. Mushrooms. Tomatoes. Kiwis. Better for potassium than potatoes. Better potassium-per-calorie than bananas, actually.
I think you might be having electrolyte-fluid imbalances... Potassium can help alleviate it more than just water, but it would explain why drinking tons of water was your impulse (you were dehydrated probably).
If you're working out for over 40 minutes, you may wanna get something that'll help with electrolytes rather than just water... if it's less than that long, it won't really matter, but beyond that it should make a difference.
Also could be muscle repairing/rebuilding itself (the pain in the calves). If that's the case, if you keep doing approximately the same amount then it'll go away. If you normally work out this much, then it's not from this, then.
I'd toss in something about glycogen stores restoring themselves, but I doubt it's an issue here. But if you're working out more than once a day, you wanna have a slight amount of carbs just after your first workout to restore glycogen stores in your muscles (doesn't need to be much; 20g should suffice-- in other words, if you had a banana for the potassium you're good already). Otherwise, your later workout will suffer. In a long workout, a drink like gatorade with electrolytes has carbs that may essentially serve a similar function.
It could be from a lot of things... _________________

Bananas are great.
Just practice. Start PAing instead of playing for combo. When you can AA 7s and 8s with ease, all the consistency issues will just about disappear because you're just that much better at the game. |
