a few weeks ago i played for about 5 hours in one day and the arches of my feet started hurting really bad..... now i can barely make it through a set of songs without them hurting.... anyone had this problem? any solutions? i've been only playing about an hour every 2 or 3 days so i figured a little time would fix it but its not helping _________________

I have this problem alot with not only DDRing, but snowboarding and running. Here's a few things I do to help:
1) I always drink alot of water. This feeds your muscles, to make them stronger, as well as lets you play even longer.
2)Also walk more from heal to toe to make the middle of your feet be more arched. This helps alot.
3)Before I play, and somtimes in the middle of play, I take my shoes off (I'f I'm playing in an arcade I have shoes on, at home I don't) and give myself a huge foot massage. I know this sounds really silly, but if you want the pain to go away, do it.
4)One more thing, you might want to play just a bit more smoothly and/or hit the pad with less force.
I hope I helped. _________________

Your feet, just like any other part of the body, have muscles and tendons that are exercised when playing DDR, so playing at more intense levels than normal will sometimes strain or fatigue those muscles and tendons. This usually will make them stronger and more flexible, so you won't have that problem as much. _________________

I've never had any pains like that. But if I had to guess at it, you probably strained/worked your foot muscles too much. _________________

It took me almost 2 years to get to heavy (I'm ashamed). That's only because I never tried any of the harder levels. Now I'm trying new songs constantly. I've almost beat Paranoia Evolution on Heavy.
BTW, Try playing Max300 on Standard 10 times, then try for 15. Then you'll know what it's like to get tired. _________________

Hey Hydra, did you ever notice the sticky in the top of "Gameplay" where it says:
"Do not put down other peoples accomplishments.
If you don't have anything nice to say, don't post. Simple as that."
Good advice to follow, don't you think? And besides, this thread is about foot pain and injuries. So far, your only contribution to the discussion is to let us know that you've been playing for 3.5 weeks, and can pass Max 300 without the bar. Congratulations. Next time post this news in a thread in which it would be the slightest bit relevant. |

not weighing 300 lbs. helps. regular non ddr exercise such as jogging, weight lifting. get your feet more use to strain and they wont hurt so often. _________________
