If someone fails on a song that I really wanted to do, and I'm up next, I don't do the song. It seems really rude to me. So I just don't play the song for a while, just wait a few games or something. |

My friend and I always try to show each other up by playing songs after the other just failed. The two of us are ok with it but it kind of pissed off one guy at the arcade when he got shown up on Love Love Shine _________________

I don't do it, but my brother does.
One time when we went to Wilton Mall this guy about 13 or 14 was doing CSFILSM without any mods and failed. Then my brother put his tokens in and played CSFILSM with no mods and got a A (with a full combo but 72 greats) and I said "haha i own you n00b you suck. you can't even FC (Yes, he did say the abbreviation instead of full combo) csfilsm. go back to light mode. you suck too much.". Then I told my brother to stop being an elitist jerk but then he just punched me in the nose and just carried on with saying how the other kid sucked at life and is retarded. Seriously, my brother's ego is almost bigger than his brain.
That's why I hate my brother. He's full of himself, takes DDR to seriously, and is an elitist jerk. |

I'd be more inclined to ask the guy if he wants to try the song again, and then play it with him. I'd say something like, "I can get you to the end of the song so you can see it all the way through," or something, so that it was clear I'm trying to help. That way, not only does he not feel like I'm trying to show him up (although, supposedly, he still might), but he gets even more out of it than just watching me play. _________________

I'm pretty good, but I never try to get competitive.
There was this one time, though, where I guess you could say I showed someone up, but not purposely. He was with all of his friends that all thought he was so amazing, and he just got finished getting 10 Greats on Sync (Heavy) and getting his extra stage. He finished, and got off and high fived all his friends.
Well, hearing him play Sync made me want to play it too, since it's one of my favorite songs. So I pick it as my first song just wanting to AA it. To my suprise, I get my first SDG! 9 Greats! I looked around and the kid was just giving me this evil stare. I didn't even know I could do that good!
Another time, a different person tried to show me up. I had just finished getting an A on Sakura (Heavy) with 1 Good and about 70 Greats. My brother, who doesn't really play DDR, was watching and thought it was awesome. So the kid, who I already knew I was a bit better than, goes up and picks Sakura as his first song. I knew he was doing it to beat me, since he looked at me like 6 times before the song started. He play through, and gets a C. I laughed my buttocks off. _________________

After I fail, I just leave to avoid embarassment. XD My arcade is filled with really good DDR players, and I'm only a 6-7footer player. So yeah...
And it doesnt help that at my arcade all the really good people STARE at your FACE the entire time that you play.
Anyway, I'm rambling. I agree with what the others said. It depends why you do it. |

the only time i ever did this was when my circle of ddr friends were all trying to beat PSMO which after 2 tries i was the first to beat it after we all took turns failing.
i dont think its wrong, but if some guy fails graduation on light ,then you play immediately after and AAA graduation heavy (8x,shuffle,stealth,dark,reverse,boost) then i would say "thats not cool" |

i only do this if it's a song that i wanna do; i would never do it just to make someone look bad and show them up. that's rude. _________________

I believe it's somewhat rude to play a song someone failed before you, so if someone failed a song I can do, I usually skip over the song and pick out of the numerous other freshly baked songs in DDR.
DDR is kinda like a donut shop. Some people pick donut holes, some pick fully loaded eclairs with little sprinkles. _________________

We'll be glad to embarass the crap out of him
Get him to game with many of us on DDRfreak and we'll see how big his ego gets... anyway *cough* I've done it before. Although I'd advise against doing it. My friend was playing Kind Lady doubles and fell (not failed). I HAD to pick it (we were having a tourney) but I WAS laughing the entire time. THen at the EXACT SAME SPOT I fell too |

Yes, if only MY shoes would stay tied
Anyway, since I am just so marvelous at doubles , whenever I feel the need to put a noob or elitist in his/her place, I simply do Max300 heavy on double. After I finish with a near AA, their facial expressions are priceless _________________

yah if you play the same song after a person plays it and fails it then it all matters of what you playing the song for...
if you play to show him up thats wrong but if you play it just cause thats the song you wanted to play then its ok |

Well, at my arcade they don't mind, unless you yell at them that they suck, then you just asked for a fight. of course outside though, No one wants to get blood all over the DDR machine....its like defiling it if you get blood or mud on it, so far, only muds been on it. and that was on the pads. If anyone matrix walked I know someone wouldve done a high aimed bong thomas and kicked their legs off the screen. _________________

I tend to do that a lot, although the usual thought process is "oh yeah X! haven't played that in a while. That's quite fun, I think I'll do it next".
X today happened to be Freckles and I AAAed it for the first time. The bloke before me was trying to PA it and didn't get the AA, I was too amazed at pulling a AAA out of the blue (as opposed to waiting for the arcade to get quiet then black flagging it four or five times in a row and finally nailing it) to look like I was showing him up. |

I know this is a little late but
(im trying hard not to boast ) but 72 greats on CSFILSM? and bragging about it? umm i would rather fail then get THAT bad (sorry to anyone who cant pass this song its one of my favs). i got a question for him how many AA's or even AAA's does he have? if he says he is god of all then maybe he could beat me at a one on one match
by the way i have 73 aa's includes 5-9 footers but mostly 7's and 8's nothing spectacular
anyway if you boast a bad score i must defeat it ill have to do it tomorrow and see how i do its been awhile since ive done it i might fail but oh well _________________
