DeathCab, what's the pay scale like? Heh, I'd come from all the way in cali lol, jobs down here suck. Anyway, pepper spray really works, and you'd be within your rights to use it. The police term is "escalation of force." Basically, if you don't do anything more harmful to them then they might do to you, you're clear.
E.X. - you don't shoot someone you think might throw a punch, but you can mace anyone who looks at you funny. That's the best I can think of right now. Plus, it'd just be really fun. Just go buy yourself some pepper spray, and don't be afraid to use it. f.ucking racists - they make all of us caucasians look bad. _________________

I go to school at Ohio State. So I'm in Columbus 9 months out of the year ;-) I wonder if I've ever seen you play. I generally play at either Gameworks (because it's half price on Sunday), or Palace Lanes (because it's cheap and they finally fixed the pads). I haven't played at Magic Mountain yet, I've heard the machine there is actually loud though, so maybe I should try it next time I'm in town. Is it nice there?
You're right about there not being a lot of really good players out on a regular basis in Columbus. Since my first visit to the arcade (when I wasn't very good and was having trouble with easy stuff like Healing Vision), I've only played one person in Columbus who could beat me. One... in about 6 months. But there's gotta be more considering there are some scores pretty close to the 10 mil mark.
Back on topic... I was at an arcade in Cleveland a couple of weeks ago and I was next in the coin line (okay, I was the *only* one in the coin line). As soon as the guy in front of me finishes, two guys jump the line, take both sides of the machine, and then play world tour. I was so pissed. The one failed, I wanted to shove the other one off the pad just to fail him for doing that. I should also mention that the arcade was fairly crowded at the time.
Let this be a lesson to you folks... DO NOT PLAY WORLD TOUR UNLESS THE ARCADE IS ALMOST COMPLETELY EMPTY... even if you do, ask anyone that might be playing if it's okay first. World tour is like 20 minutes long and it's really, really rude to pull it out at busy times. Nobody is impressed. Nobody cares. So don't do it.
End rant. |

I can do world tour. And the fact that it's in the game doesn't mean you still aren't an buttocks to play it when there's a line. I know many people feel the same way. Pretty much the only people that don't are the people that are enough of an buttocks to do it themselves.
You can do a lot of things in life, just because you *can* doesn't prevent it from being selfish and rude. The world would be a lot better of a place if people had the decency to realize that. But they don't, end of story. |

So which arcade are you talking about that has those rude DDR players? Is it in Corona, Norco or Riverside? Please reply, over! Thanks!

DAYAM. Here in CA, you'd get shot for saying those things

Hey man, if someone wants to do a oni course that takes 11 or 12 minutes, they should have that choice, regardless if there's a line or not. If you think about it, that's just a lilbit more than the average game of DDR, is it not? If a player wants more for his money, he/she shouldn't be knocked for it because YOU want to be an ass because YOU have no patience. Now, if you want to talk about rude and obnoxious, think about what you're doing: You are dissing other players that's getting more for their money. I'm not sure if you've realized this, but there are other games besides DDR you can play while waiting your turn. Now, if more people knew THAT, the arcades would be a better place. _________________

there aren't any rude or obmoxius players around here. the worst i've ever heard was when this 17-year-old guy failed lom right after the freeze and yelled "FUCK!" right as he got off the machine. but, this one time when i was on vacation, i went to a mall arcade and while someone was playing, there'd be maybe 4 coins up in the coin line and this one guy while you were playing in the middle of the song would get the key from the manager, even though he didn't work there, and put like 4 credits in the machine through the service button so he and his friend could do doubles next 2 rounds. wouldn't that piss everyone off? _________________

Not 11 or 12 minutes... 20. I don't have a problem with any other oni but World Tour really. A 5-6 course Oni isn't much longer than a regular game at all since there's no stage breaks or anything like that. I really enjoy watching those. And honestly, if someone wants to do world tour and the're willing to turn around and say, "I'm gonna do world tour now, cool?" Then I don't have a problem with it and more power to them, but if there's several people in line, or they're jumping the coin line for it, it's pretty obnoxious. If I were really concerned about someone playing a 10 minute game, I'd be screwed when I went to any arcade where regulars got extra stage regularly, since that's generally about how long a game takes when anyone gets it.
Anyway, you're entitled to your view, I have mine. It's really not worth arguing about since I doubt we'll ever be in the same arcade anyway. I agree there are other games to play, but I usually try to play all my DDR in a block before/after I play since doing too much stop and go is bad for the body. Also, most of the arcades I play at have 2 DDR machines and usually some other random bemani, but when it's busy, there'll be lines at all three, and usually there'll be lines at most of the other non-bemani games I play. So it's a wait anywhere you go. Besides, a wait for Time Crisis is usually a good 15 minutes itself during the day. |

I don't mind cursing or giving the screen the finger, but I hate it when people cut in the "quarter line" and also when people are being loud and obnoxious while you are trying to dance. grrr... |

I haven't met any mean people at my arcade. They're pretty nice. They even explained the coin system when I was a newbie on DDR. No one has ever dissed me, even when I failed songs. But I dont play it at the arcade that much, b/c i have DDR Max 2 for PS2. I have never heard anybody cursed at my arcade. So I haven't been going throught the things you guys have. As for the double mode person that hurt his ankle, I would have gotten pretty mad too. And the mother is quite a b****. Anyway, not all little kids are like that. They really don't understand DDR and how it could get dangerous if anything got in the way. But then again what do I know. Most of the kids that plays DDR at my arcade is in high school. I don't know any little kiddies besides me that plays it. (I'm only 13 ) Sry for the long reply that I wrote. So bye! _________________

Ok. This recently happened to me. There was this guy who wanted to play ddr with me so I decided to play versus mode with him. I let him pick the first song and he a 10 footer for the first song. We both failed and I decided to play another game. Like an idiot, I let the guy go again with me. This time I picked the first song but once again he picked a song that we both failed. This guy decided that since he was playing with me, that I could save him from failing on the really hard songs. I thought it was cheap and opportunistic of that guy. I will never play against that bastard again. _________________
