hey ive been playing for a good while now and ive gotten to the point where i pretty much need a bar to hold on me for those steps on tsugaru (sry if i misspelled that, hehe) and twilight zone, i mean i have a really good pad, igniton v.2 deluxe, but i really need a bar, and theres nothing to hold on to while i play in my game room, any ideas on a home bar?
thanks!

You're probably going to want to look into building a homepad, and using your Ignition for parts to design it.
And by the way - you don't need the bar. The bar is a crutch that some people get too reliant on, and many other people frown on. I suggest you learn to play without the bar. _________________

thanks alot for the help, although im still a lil confused when you said to make a homepad, and use my ignition as parts, what do you mean by that? As in like taking the pad apart or using it with construction with a bigger better pad? And im also thinging about what you said about relying on the bar too much. I have seen this and i was thinking that i would just use the bar to practice untill i got to the point of not needing it, im still a lil rusty on those 9 ft songs
thanks alot!

i personaly find it fun to have people tell me that they look down on using the bar so i can play something without it and do better, so if your capable of that, use the bar all you want. same goes for speed mods and solo.
anyway, he was refering to the home pad thread(its in the stickys), and building your own metal pad. you can also always use a chair, i have done that a few times when i'm tired and want to play a max or something. |

oooohh thanks alot!
still im not smart enought to make a metal pad and im afraid id skrew up my pad and not know how to fix it if i took it apart for the metal pad, i spent $100 bucks on that thing, im not about 2 skrew it up. But the chair idea might work...or maybe ill just make my own bar or...i dunno if everything else fails ill just use a chair but thanks alot!

Now now...I'm not being a no-bar-nazi...I'm just saying that the amount of effort you'd have to put in to add a bar to your setup would be far less than learning how to play without it, and considering how some people feel about bar-users, it makes it even less desireable. _________________

I always laugh at people who "frown upon those who use the bar." That just makes me laugh everytime I hear it.
On the topic ive been thinking about how to design a bar for home use. Havent really come up with anything that would be cheap to do though. I have some good ideas, but they would cost a lot to implement, so I just dont worry about it. |

i saw a site once that had arcade parts, and you could get the bar(but you had to buy 2) and they were on back order. anyway, you could get an arcade bar, screw into some ply wood to attach the bar to it, attach your pad to the ply wood(if you have an ignition duct tape should do that job, metal pad users like myself might have to find another way). bam, you got a bar, and it only cost you... $80... damn, i'll just play at the arcade for that kind of money. |

#2 - Information on Metal Pads can be found in the Metal Pad sticky, where the *VERY FIRST POST* will tell you the answer to your question.
#3 - I warned you and instructed you to read the Site FAQ. You either didn't do so, or you just don't care, so now you're eligible for warning points. Congratulations. _________________

what you need to do is go to midas, they will not only supply the pipe, but also bend it. of course you'll have to get measurements from an arcade. once the pipe is bent, you have to affix it to the pad somehow. i suggest welding it to a settl plate that goes under and behind the pad for stability. when you'r done, light a $12 cigar with a $100 bill because you are paying way too much for things!
hope this helps, and hey... can i borrow a 5? i'll gladly pay you back tuesday for $5 today. |

The biggest problem with building a bar setup for an Ignition pad is the weight of the pad. Put simply, you're not going to be able to put a significant amount of weight on the bar without anything anchoring it to the ground. The arcade pad weighs a ton, so it works fine, but the softpad won't handle it. _________________
