|

For some reason it takes about 8 seconds for the forum category page to open, about 11 seconds for a category to open, and somewhere around 20 seconds for a thread to open. Once I post my message it takes about 10 seconds to get to the confirm/redirecting page, and about a minute from there to get back to the thread. Can anyone tell me why this forum lags so much for me/if this is common for everyone? |

I get occasional delays as well, even though I have a cable connection. It seems to be random. _________________

System performance can vary based on time of day, upstream providers of your particular ISP, and other factors completely out of the hands of the end user.
For example, one of the reasons AOL sucked for so many years was that they routed all of their customers through the same core router facility in Virginia, regardless of their physical location. Not only did this make connections difficult for those using leased dialup POPs, but it also led to a lot of network congestion because all of AOL's customers were competing for the same network resources.
Thankfully, they have since staggered their network facilities, and they no longer suck (for that particular reason, anyway). Now the load is staggered around the country, and depending on time of day and equipment-to-customer ratio, it's perfectly possible for one customer to have a very fast turn-around time on requests, and another customer to have to way 30 seconds or more to do the same activity. _________________
